What Is Life?

I really believe that Shakespeare sonnet. You know, the one that goes "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.". Life is more like a play, a performance we put on. We have no actual "self"- just roles. That's how I feel anyway. And everything that happens is just coincidence. Life is just that- a series of coincidences that make up who we happen to be- it's like a plot in a play.

I guess it depends on your religious beliefs. I personally believe in a God/Allah/Higher Power who loves us and doesn't want to force us into relationship with Him. (I say Him even though I don't think God is confined to a gender, but I don't feel comfortable calling God "It.") As such, He wanted to give us this time on Earth to decide whether we want to follow Him and be with Him in total freedom. He doesn't want to force Himself on anyone. So to me, life is our chance to develop our thinking and decide how we personally want to spend eternity.

Ohh interesting question!

I wish I had the answer! I would say it's a journey before the after life.

What is Allah? I am trying yo find my spirituality and getting closer to something bigger.

I was baptized Christian but I am starting to see that I am way to open minded for Christianity. I agree with some but a lot of stuff I disagree with and I am starting to see by going to my church recently (been 16 years) that my guilt is partially due from that.

What is Allah?

Allah is what is closer to my heart, a strenght, a power, a love and a hope always present there in your heart no matter what. Allah is who keeps you connected, who helps you seak out for what is better, who holds your hand and helps you in becoming a better person, kind, loving, caring, understanding. He is who teaches you and gives you the tools to become more patient, to accept what ever life throws at you and learn from every experience you are given. Who tells you to appreciate every aspect of you, of who you are and what you have. To appreciate people, love them and respect them all equally.

Allah/God the creature, is who is thereinside your heart, following you and helping you every step of the way.

This is Allah for me. :)

And now I'm backing out because we're focussing more on religion now, and I'd rather just not go there.

I understand. Religion can be uncomfortable for a lot of reasons. Since my dad was a religion teacher and used "religion" a lot (he sexually abused me) the trauma therapists at the program told me it was a form of clergy abuse. I was agnostic for a huge portion of my childhood.I don't know what is your reason for being uncomfortable, but just know I understand.

Radicalgratitude, you and me both!!! Religion was used in my family to justify sexual abuse!!!

After years of being so angry at God, I've just started to separate my core feelings and beliefs about God with the warped sick ideas about religion I was taught.

I completely understand anyone who is uncomfortable with religion... I was that person myself not so long ago.

And this is exactly what everyone of us should do! The Idea and concept of God is what we create, what we feel within us. Whereas everything else we been thought about religion, are just ideas and tools to "control" and manipulate us, in a way that best suits them for whatever purposes!!
