My 17 year old son got a cold while in Spain, on like the fourth day. He brought it home with him. Today he woke up with a fever, head pressure, pain, and pain while trying to breathe, as well as congestion. I decided to make a drs appointment because he usually won't complain about a cold. The nurse belittled us, saying it was just a cold, and the dr would not give him antibiotics. That if it was something worse he would look sicker. My son is a very laid back guy. That he got it on the plane, though it was actually four days later. That he should of taken airborne. That the fever was no big deal, he didn't have one now. Which I reminded her I gave him advil this morning. She just blew him off. Said it was all just a cold and laughed. I kept my cool though I truly did not like that he was being dismissed without even an examination, and really worried the dr would be the same way.
No the dr wasn't like that at all! He listened to his chest and heard crackling and a small wheeze. He said he was treating it with antibiotics and mucinex dm because he didn't want it to turn into pneumonia. He diagnosed bronchitis.
I so wanted to find the nurse and slap her in the face with that information! Just a cold my butt! Not everyone who is sick, acts like they are dying!!! :inpain::arghh;
