What made you feel better today?

We have a female recruit joining us soon.
Yeah, okay, I freely admit that I am what might charitably be called a 'rake', but I'm not just that; most of my friends at home are female and I miss having girls around to talk to.

I'm really looking forward to her showing up. I hope we get along.

Drone Girl came back. She's living with us for a while.
When the drone team picked her up this morning I came to meet them and see her off. They found this amusing.
Apparently they asked her if she wanted to come back, then asked if she wanted a transfer to the assault group.
She has no idea why they asked or why they found that funny.
I think I do.

My daughter didn't have a meltdown yesterday.
Not sure how old your daughter is….

ADHD household, we had a marble-jar for meltdowns. In the beginning the day was broken up into a LOT of pieces (natural breaks in the day), near the end the day was just split in 3 (morning, afternoon, evening), and finally all day.

2 marbles for no meltdowns.
1 marble for catching yourself start to have a meltdown, and stopping.
0 marbles for a meltdown.
Then it reset for the next time block.

Took between 6-18mo to fill the jar.

Filling the marble jar? (1 jar per kid) Meant a BIG prize, of the kiddo’s choice. Seaplane ride. Amusement park. Weekend trip. Kind of thing.

But it taught self control, and emotional monitoring and regulation.

I use the same thing for ME, when I’m doing badly, and I’m 40-mumble. New start! Okay! Doesn’t even have to wreck the morning, much less the whole day.

Thanks @Friday
That is a great idea. I wish I'd have known about the marble jar with my son who was autistic.
My daughter is mid-30s with PTSD and has nightmares rages and meltdowns, etc. My problem is keeping myself regulated when she's going through this. Sometimes I can and sometimes I get mentally lost for a week or so. It's a good day when no meltdowns occur.
