What Made You Happy Today?

My boys are on spring break. My youngest has chose to be on his laptop sitting in the living room with me instead of doing it in his bedroom. I like listening to him talk to his friends about the game they are playing. I like hearing him happy. He has always been a happy go lucky type of kid. I am blessed, by both of my boys.

I am so happy that I get to go out of my house today to run errands and to get Easter things for my granddaughters.

Today I stayed home from work with a cold. Felt sick as a dog all day. My husband came home from work with ice cream from Dairy Queen to soothe my sore throat. That little gesture of thoughtfulness made my day.

I really like this, Becky. This was one of my goals when creating the thread, to give us all something positive each day to think about.


It has been a hard few weeks, and I think that it may get harder because I am going to start pushing myself a bit harder in therapy (which is quite terrifying for me but I think I'll be okay with my therapist). What made me happy today was that I really wanted a hug from one of the adults I know and talk to on occasion and I asked her if I could hug her and when she did, I felt warm and safe. I needed that, and I am still a bit amazed with myself for actually asking to be hugged.

Today's a tough one because I've had a day fraught with frustration. But something REALLY cool happened today when my nine-year-old was watching TV and my seven-year-old changed the channel on him. My nine-year-old - who is autistic and mostly non-verbal - very calmly said, "J took away my TV show."

I went for a great sweat-inducing, stress-relieving run. And I survived the week's therapy session.

It made me happy to know that my position is secured for the art retreat I am now going to attend in July. This is my birthday present to myself, and I will be in Bali for my 39th birthday (can't believe I'm going to be 39 in a few months...crazy)
