What Made You Happy Today?

One of my colleagues is 50 tomorrow. There is only 3 of us at work. My other colleague and I arranged flowers to be delivered to the office. Then we told her we were going for lunch (on us), then we had each bought her a present and a card.

Surprising others makes me happy.

I am drinking a fresh pot of coffee in the morning, with the morning sun shining in the house.

The young woman at the Coles checkout. She smiled nicely at me and we waxed lyrical about our love of warm, freshly baked bread.

I texted a friend last night who lives on her own. We have been friends for 27 years. We met via a chronic fatigue support group. She is such a dear and I really appreciate her.

 

[Dendrite]

Listening to a friend at tennis talk about her life. She is Russian and has had a very hard life in Russia, before coming here. It reminds me that I am not the only person who has struggled. There is a connection in humans when we listen carefully to each other, without judgement.

Today I learned the reasons behind my illness of the past few weeks and that made me really happy. To know that although I felt like I was dying it was only a combination of nicotine withdrawal and diabetes which is treatable.

That for most of today I did okay.

Do you know, I am not really sure. I think it had to do with my son coming home from school. But there was nothing special or anything different from any other day. Maybe it is because it is my husband's early day. I'm not sure, but it was brief, and I am not questioning it.

My friend sent me my Christmas present. It was very sweet of her. I don't mind that it is late. It gave me something to be happy about today. I enjoy my gift.

The glorious sound of my wind chimes.

Honey eaters in the garden.

A fresh breeze causing gum leaves to chatter and applause.

Love. Pure love. Not emotion. In my heart and mind like the sounds of my wind chimes. Harmonising.
