Hey Docrock
Saying that it hasn't changed much isn't going to help but I'd suggest this. Get your resume together, what ever it is you decide to pursue as a career. Go to a counseling service and headhunters, they get paid getting you interviews and seeing that you get a job. Do not dwell on this for very long, can't change it and you don't want to waste too much energy on being mad about it. You've got skills, drive and know how to get a job done. That's what will get you a job.
I'm proud to be a vet, but sadly that just doesn't seem to cut it today or even yesterday. Expecting that the VA or anyone that won't hire you because you're a vet to change is an unrealistic expectation. I don't mean to be harsh or brusk but I'd like to see guys like you in the work place and making a good living. Go online and do your research and homework, be prepared to make it work. Don't beat yourself up about all this, it really won't help. You deserve better but you're going to have to go out and get it. Best of luck.
