What Strategies Do You Use to Be Productive Each Day?

Sometimes, I fail to get up out of bed because it is safer and more comfy in bed. I stay there then get angry with myself for doing nothing. So recently, to get up and get something accomplished I:

A) make a list of things that have to get done that day...
B) pick 2- the top 2 priorities
C) use my Coin Toss app- and mentally choose one option ( something that needs doing) for heads and a more or less favorable option for tails.
D) click the Coin Flip app on my phone
E) decision made-and my actions usually follow quickly.
F) done with the first thing-keep moving forward and do the second.

This sounds really silly but I get more things done using this strategy when I’m in a stuck or ambivalent place.

What strategies do you use to get up and going- to have accomplished something when some part of you is not really feeling motivated to get up and be productive?

Love it. Very creative way to get things going for yourself. I’m the opposite in that I rarely sit down and just do nothing. It feels as though I must do or accomplish all day and if a task is left undone or something needs doing then do it. However, if I add it all up I don’t get much done even though I’ve been busy because I get distracted and leave off to do something else then come back.

I’m pretty good at getting myself to do “just one small thing” which ends up being more. If I’m overwhelmed by the clean laundry that needs to be put away I convince myself to put away “just one t-shirt.” After I start, I’ll definitely do more than just one thing. I won’t always finish, but I still feel accomplished.

It works mostly for house chores, but less so for school work. I still try. I’m doing my master’s now and I get through some of it by saying “just respond to one comment” by my supervisor. The problem is when the comment asks me to change something major and is really 7 separate tasks.

On the bright side, I’ve been having enough good days lately that my thesis is pretty much done, just waiting on yet another set of comments from my supervisor.

@Wilbur know these Days as well...

Woke up with iron coats and an iron masks on most days, the bed being the magnetic field.. the T.V on for hours to find escape. It took me years, and I am still trying, scratching and peeling off layers to keep in touch with the parts, one likes peppermint oil on the forehead, or a very catchy song.. or a poster I have on my wall.. with a Quote.. it changes depending on what there is to be explored. Not always working, but small, very Small steps. Usually cold/warm showers Do wonders and some supplements..still I do struggle at some days, but there seems to be a lot to discover.

^This!

I so dislike myself more than usual if I get nothing done or get less than what I set out to get done.

So... I imagine the end of the day sitting with those feelings and thoughts and that I wasted another day to ptsd, depression, anxiety etc.

This is highly motivating for me. It works most of the time. But it's still a fight. :(

I had to make an internal rule to follow through or I wouldn’t get my daily reward. That increased follow through- and the internal reward of just feeling good about getting stuff done. Coin flip is like a game too, my child parts buy into it. Sounds silly, I know.
