This makes me laugh because I got told the exact same thing. Considering that no one in my family has no mental issues, I cannot stop myself from laughing at so much stupidity.

Life is going on.
Pull yourself together.
You should be ashamed being an educated person and letting herself go like this.
Bad things are happening. You should rather take care of your family and work.
You should be over it by now.
Life is not easy for anybody.
In one year you will be surprised looking back how you were now ( Now it is one year and it is worse than ever)
Do not think about the past, think about the future.
You should take a cold shower (one of my favorite advise I got in the hospital when I said I am getting paralysed from the flashbacks)
You want the flashbacks (also from ex T).
Time heals every wound.
You are manipulating. You are unbearable, (both from my ex T, when I said I wanted to die).
You only think about yourself.

Prime-No, my sister just started therapy and she was hoping that my mom would wake up and start thinking about the fact that she has 2 kids in therapy now. But nooooo, she just ignores it. I have not seen her in years since it's better for my healing process to stay away from her.

I must add some more from the psychiatry ward, mainly from my psychiatrist (I can not resist).
It is bad enough to hear such ignorant comments from lay people, but from specialists, who are supposed to help you it is particulary NO GO.

You want constant attention. You want to be seen.
So you think you are special?
You do not want to get better.
Do you think you have rights?
You got the side effects because you did not believe in the medications.

My top one, when they gave me up:
Your symptoms got worse because you do not want to leave the hospital. (WTF)

Omnia-I got that too. My symptoms got worse because they did. They discharged me anyway and I recycled back into another hospital within a week. Don't you love it?

Truth is, sometimes I would rather be in the hospital because I don't have to think about stuff like shopping, paying bills, fixing dinner etc. I can hardly do this lately and I just get through the day.

Hi Monster, same with me. I was happy to leave that awful place, but now am getting overloaded and exhausted. One is for sure there I will not go back. My therapist suggested me to go to another one, but I can not trust the system at the moment.

It is a funny feeling when one is being discharged in a worse condition than the newly hospitazed patients are in.

I hope your second hospitalisation was better.

Thank you prime! Yes it's a hard decision to break contact with your parents. Especially if everyone tells you that they are getting older, or that I should put everything behind me and move on...blablabla Contact, especially with my mom, stresses the hell out of me. I get mad when my sister (who still has contact with them) tells me things. Once I made that decision, I felt so much better. My sister is the only family I am in touch with, but I am ok with that.
