When You Love Someone Who Has PTSD

Mourning the loss of the man my husband was, is exactly what I had to do. It may help you through the really tough times.

Just try to remember when she pushes you away for the space to heal, it is not you it is the trauma.

Icare, you've had some really good advice here, and I second all of it. The only thing I'd like to add is the importance of someone who has been assaulted to feel that they're believed. She also needs to really know from you that this was not her fault. It sounds like such a simple thing, but I can tell you, it's an important one.

The love of my husband (who I met long after the event that brings me to this board) has made all the difference in how far I've come. You may not feel like it now, but you really can make an enourmous difference.

Clairbear, thank you. As I said previously, I had been through the trauma of the same heinous crime before she had been, so not only do I believe her, I empathize with her. S
