Why Death? All I Think About Is Suicide

i tried anthony, to find a naturopath with the link, but i couldn't even get one for my state, let alone a city nearby. might they be called something else also? more likely we just haven't any here. even though we are near dc, this state is behind in anything new or different. cookie

Cookie, naturopathy is not new, in actual fact, naturopathy was around before current medicine was. The only difference now is, is that current medicine started of exceeding some parts of naturopathy, but has now gotten more about money than healing, where naturopathy has now surpassed prescription type medications in most areas, though not all.

The best means to find a naturopath within your area, is to find an acupuncturist, because they will often deal in chinese medicine, a form of naturopathy, but they will generally be in touch and know who is a naturopath within your local region. Ring several if need be, but more often than not, they are generally known to all naturopaths locally. Ring them and they will help you... even book yourself in with them for an assessment for major depression, and I will put a guarantee down that you have a 99% chance walking away feeling better the next day than what you did when you walked into an acupuncturist. I say that, because often you need to sleep first and the next day shows the results. They are very very good. If I didn't rate this stuff cookie, I wouldn't bother recommending it.

It is great that you have looked, now you just most likely need to make a phone call or two, and you will soon enough have appointments. Please be straight with them over the phone, in that you have major depression, suicidal ideation and all the medication your currently on, so they can already be developing a plan of attack for you when you hit the office.

anthony i reall appreciate your help, but there really are none here, i did find 2 in the next state (md) but they are about an hr. away, i can't afford the gas to drive that far on a regular basis, and when school starts monday, i won't have time to get there. i have no idea how i'm going to manage teaching this yr. my t thinks it will be good to keep me busy, i just hope i don't set the children's education back. it just feels like every thing i hope might help is not there for me. cookie

Hey Cookie, don't worry about the children's education being set back - the very fact that you are worried about it says to me that you're the type of person who would find it hard to let your standards drop that far without doing something about it!

I've been at that point and I'm glad to say that I took time out before my teaching suffered.

Remember that in teaching, you separate the personal from the professional every time you step into the classroom. You can still do this and the kids will give you a break from yourself. Just make sure that you look after yourself between classes - have a radio or ipod to listen to, friends to chat to, websites to surf, boring admin work to do...... there will be something!

Take care.

Oh - have you tried looking for homeopathic doctors? I think they are similar/the same as naturopaths (Anthony please correct me if I'm wrong!).

Pretty much the same thing, yep... agree piglet. Cookie, can you tell me the town in which you are please, but more importantly, the towns or cities immediately surrounding you, and I will do some research to try and track down some professionals to help you.

If you found a naturopath one hour away, I would instead ring them and have a chat with one of them first. Give them the full explanation of how your feeling, what meds the doctors have you one, PTSD, etc, then they should take the ball and give you lots of questions by this stage, or discuss with them that you cannot afford to take the time to get to them regularly, so if you can come up with a mutually beneficial time to see one, make that drive, try and sort out some of your main suicidal depressive issues, then you may be able to simply remain in contact with them by phone instead of having to go there each time.

thanks, anthony. i am in charles town, wv (not charleston) it is near dc, kind of disconnected from the rest of wv. (eastern panhandle) i'll have to look up and see if they are covered on my ins. they may be, they have started covering some things they didn't use to. cookie

Ok cookie... see if any off these people are still around, as they should be able to reduce your med intake and get you on more natural alternatives, or provide services for you to heal you and reduce your meds... either way, to reduce your meds and have more natural coping strategies is the aim. Not sure how close the second listing is too you, being clarksburg. If not, the acupuncturist should be able to provide much relief and also they often deal in traditional herbal medicines, and the third listing is more natural oriented, and could help you with natural medication, remedies or advice to find exactly what you need.

The problem with finding some alternative medicine persons, is that they hide well, often don't advertise, and instead take those who come looking for them, not just find them in the yellow pages. Why? Because it is often these people who look hard enough that really do want their services and are prepared to listen to them.

Very valuable intense thread. Well worth a read as many of us struggle like Cookie was at the time.

Cookie;
Definately take Anthony's advice. I was on so many meds, including Cymbalta, and was still suicidal. I'm now off and doing herbal and nutritional suppliments from my own research and haven't had a suicidal thought for months now.............First time in my life!!!

I'm so sorry your mother did that to you. She sounds a lot like my Mom & Dad.......would have preferred to have us dead and gone. Terrible broken people.

Update; The herbal stuff actually didn't work after awhile. I was still very symptomatic at times.

Now I've been on Seroquel 100 mg and klonopin as needed. This seems to be working well for me. The seroquel, from the first time I took it, seemed to spring some light into my brain for the first time since my breakdown. I've gained a bit of weight, but the relief from the darkness and the guaranteed sleep it worth it.
