Why I Won't Cut Myself

This is to match the other suicide thread. To help deal with our self-abuse.
I'll start:
I won't hurt myself because it only hurts me, not my abuser. I have enough scars and I don't need anymore.

I won't hurt myself because I won't continue their work for them. They got their kicks by hurting me, why should I continue to do it for them? The best revenge is learning to have fun again.

How's that?

I won't cut myself because it is only a temporary solution to a permanent problem. I have to deal with the reasons I want to supress my pain and walk forward, not backward. It never worked to "solve" the reason I was cutting.

I wont cut myself because it is just one moment in a lifetime of moments, I will take pictures of happy ones. I dont need the scars to remind me of the bad ones. Every moment passes, bring on the next kodak moment.

I never cut myself. I used other methods of self harm but not this one. Now I try to leave them all behind because they are not helpful to me. I have been hurt enough, I want to heal.

Im just too afraid of explaining cuts to other people when they notice them, makes me even more vunerable when people ask questions.

I won't cut myself anymore because it is not a good way to cope and easily becomes a bigger problem. The more you cut the better you feel because it releases some of the stress and the more you want to.

Good for all of you! I am impressed with all of your resolutions. I don't cut, but I have friends who do. Isn't it a little easier said than done? How do you stop yourself? I may not cut, but PTSD has lead me to other self-damaging behaviors, at least I would consider them that (e.g. not eating regularly, not working hard enough to finish my dissertation, not cleaning enough, not exercising enough, etc...). Those could be seen as depression and PTSD symptoms, but I do not always know how to separate them.
