New Here
So in January, I was fired from my job due to how nervous ptsd makes me. I just started a work from home job, talking to people on the phone. It's a sales position. And I'm terrified. I don't even know why. It should be easy enough. I have a script. All I have to do is sit here and sell stuff. But I'm sitting here with a sick stomach and my hands are shaking. No clue why. I'm just terrified of people and people's reactions to me. I feel like I'd love to hide under the couch. I was just diagnosed with ptsd about two months ago, and since being fired, have not been able to get health insurance back to go back to therapy. Does anyone have any advice or ideas of what to do while you're working to keep panic at bay? I need this job but it's already making me feel horrible.

I worked from home for a company that was selling on behalf of a cable tv, phone, and internet provider. It was a sales job, making cold calls to potential customers. I printed off all the information they gave me in training and put it in a binder, along with the parts of the script that always stayed the same. I used color sticky tabs to mark different pages/sections. I found that having that tangible information helped calm my nerves. I also made sure to always have water handy in case my mouth dried out. The first call is always the worst. It gets easier and easier over time. I was horrible at sales, that's why I am no longer with the company. You can do this.

In my first job I also found it difficult to call people, especially when I needed their help (research). I tried to avoid calling people, but this didn't work because avoiding was not an option.
Now I have less difficulties with it. I try to not think a lot before I call because that makes it more difficult for me.

Isn't it possible to find a job that is 'easier' for you? I mean, can't you find a job in which contact with people you don't know isn't that important?
