You Know You Have PTSD When...

When an actual life and death situation is dealt with calmly, matter of factly and quite effectively

Yeah, I'm quoting what I wrote myself (sorry if that infringes the rules), but last weekend I was out fighting this bushfire (http://www.examiner.com.au/story/1157693/seven-firefighters-hurt/?cs=94) and there was actually 11 firefighters (out of about 50) hurt in a wind change. We were left behind, tried to find our way to where everyone was regrouping and one thing led to another and a bloody great tree nearly fell on the cab of our truck (missed us by an absolute poofteenth of an inch). I was the first one in the cab to see it (kind of unsurprising given what hypervigilance is), the driver heard my exclamation and reversed out of harms way (JUST).

Funny thing is, one of the blokes took a picture of me with the camera from the truck while we were getting our breath back, waiting for a guide and filling the tank (from a dam), and I'll be damned if it isn't the happiest, most confident I've seen myself look in any photograph taken for years... Go figure
