You Know You've Been Dissociating/being Absent Minded When...

When you put the toast in the toaster, and watch it for a few minutes, waiting. You only realize about five minutes later that you did not push the lever down.

When you cannot remember if you locked your car or not because you were paying too much attention to that SOUND down the street, so you have to get bundled up and go out and check, and you get distracted by ANOTHER suspicious sound...

When you get a tattoo on a very sensitive, bony area and don't feel ANYTHING to the point of going to sleep. The tattoo artist shakes you awake with an assistant, because they assume you passed out and you're irritated because you were having a nap. Their shocked faces are something you'll remember a long time.

When you are having a BAD day, you're paying for something at the till then BAM you are home. You have no memory of how you got there. There is a chocolate bar on your receipt, and a wrapper in the bag, but you don't remember eating it. You're pissed off because chocolate bars are good and you didn't even get to taste that one.

When ^ pain does it for you, but then pushed limits remove pain too.

Oh, drats, I'm supposed to mind & flashback people aren't here & people that are can't hurt /that/ badly, can they? :shifty:

When you still don't know what went on in those days... and you're fine if you never will. There's a reason people forget.

Try as you might, it takes something like 10 minutes to recall what you ate for breakfast this morning, this after inspecting the kitchen and the fridge, looking at everything there, knowing you did not eat this or that, but WHAT did you eat! Wondering if maybe you didn't eat? Then remembering FINALLY that it was something you had brought home from somewhere, (and you cannot recall where) in a box. Oh yes, I remember where it came from now. SHEEEESH!

When my partner asks "how was your day?" Erm I have literally no idea.

When I force myself to go do the dishes only to get to the kitchen to find them done. Sweet! thank you past dissociative me...but when the hell did I do them!

When my hip hurts because I've been sitting in the exact same position for who knows how long.

When I'm not sure if I've posted all this in this thread already and just don't remember. Or maybe I just thought of doing it but didn't.
