Your Pet Did What!?!

Thanks, NH. My plan is to just keep an eye on him and encourage rest as much as he will tolerate. He has been pretty willing to just lie around today. Well, lie around and snuggle. Poor boy is very sad. If he isn't better in a couple of days, I will take him back to the vet. He is moving like I do when my hip hurts. I think it is his elbow or shoulder. Makes me sad to see him so pathetic. :(

H is away and Max is taking the 'look after Mum' talk very seriously.

Tonight, I took the pooches for their walk and we met 2 of their friends with their Mum. I was playing with one of the other dogs and she wouldn't release the ball. I put my 'strict' voice on and told her to let go. Max leapt in and bowled her over and growled at her.

My friend and I thought it was so funny, she was impressed at how protective he was.

Oh dear, Max has just cut his leg. There is a nasty looking hole. I'm waiting for H to come home so we can battle through the snow to the vets.

I've just switched pet insurance but luckily (well not for Max) as it is an accident he is covered. I'd guess they may have to knock him out to be stitched up. I can see the £ signs mounting up.

I'll let you know how it goes later.

My daughter got a puppy for Christmas. She is a Maltese and is just now 12 weeks old, still weighs less than 3 pounds...tiny little fluffball named Zoey.

My daughter went to visit her dad and his family yesterday...she'll only be gone a couple of days. You would not believe the separation anxiety going on between these two. The puppy has been beside herself searching through the house and laying outside of my daughter's closed bedroom door looking and waiting for her. This morning for the first time ever she refused to eat breakfast...thankfully her hunger strike ended after about four hours. But since she hadn't eaten since the night before, 16 hours is a long time for such a little pup to go without eating.

Right after Zoey finally ate something, I get a call from my daughter wanting me to get on Skype so she could see and talk to the dog. Her dad said she had been very worried about the puppy. My daughter didn't really miss me or want to talk to me, she just needed me to hold the dog up to the computer so they could see each other and she could talk to Zoey. I think it confused the puppy that she could see and hear my daughter because as soon as we ended our call she went through the house searching again for my daughter.

Quick update. Max is in doggy hospital and will be overnight.

He has had one operation and H and I then transferred him to our vets larger practice, nice 30 mile round trip. It was a horrid journey as Max was still sedated when the nurses carried him to the car. He then started to come round, whining and crying, he was stumbling around trying to stand, very distressing to listen too.

Tomorrow the vet will take a closer look at the knee joint as they are worried about infection. I'll know more tomorrow.
