I hope starting this thread is okay with everyone...
I do not often get on the forums and welcome new people because I am ill with several chronic illnesses and I just can't get to each individual person to welcome them so, I wanted to start a thread from me to all of you who are new to this site.
I am a male survivor of sexual child abuse. I have had 17 years of on-going therapy / counseling and healing and I want you to know this site can be an important tool in your healing process!!! Play by the rules and this site can be informative and a major boost to your healing !!
Start an introductory post and consider beginning a diary as these things have helped me the most and I hope they will do the same for you.
I have been a member here for 7 years and I don't think I would be as far along in my journey as I am right now without it.
The people here are understanding and compassionate and while disagreements do arise on occasion they are usually soothed by the kind hearts of our PTSD brothers and sisters as well as the vigilant staff members.
I also have to say the staff here is wonderful and everyone works hard to ensure this site runs smoothly. Anthony, the creator of this wonderful site can be stern when it comes to sticking to the rules, but it is for everyone's benefit that he is and I for one admire him for it.
Along with a little bit of effort, one can experience exposure therapy and peer therapy, just by participating on the forums.
I can honestly say that it has helped me tremendously and my hope for you is that you will experience the same honest understanding and compassion that has been shown to me consistently for many years.
My hope for you is that you will enjoy a much better quality of life than what you presently know!!!
If you want to ask me any questions you may ask me here or in a private message, if that makes you more comfortable. I only want to help others to find their way along their own path to a better and hopefully happier life.
