New Here
Hi all, I'm new member from England. I am in a form of recovery from PTSD. Trying to get my life together following a rapid downward spiral over the past 5 years. Was OK for 20 years after the trauma but then it came back to get me. Wishing you all love, health and happiness.

Welcome to the forum!

Im sorry thay you're struggling but for me, when i had it all supressed for 10 yrs, I thought my life was good but it was shit and all it got me was being an addict so its good in the sense that you get to work this out. In my opinion anyway.

Anyway, welcome! You'll find good support and great people here!

@Carter-Dyett Welcome to the forum! :)

PTSD sometimes flares up that way and the symptom become present long after the initial trauma. Many times it seems our brain decides its OK to "let it go", but that process really can muck up daily life. I hope you find the information and support here helpful.

Hello and welcome, my SO developed PTSD after my diagnosis of cancer, this was years after the traumas he witnessed in the forces and the breakdown of his marriage. Back in the day it was seen as weak to admit to 'not coping' so like soldiers are good at doing sucked it up and moved on with life. Yeah all the signals were there that something was not quite right, dreadful scary dreams, isolation, chronic aches and pains that the medical profession could find no diagnosis for post all manner of investigations, plus many more symptoms. Finally after many years he admitted he needed help and is due to start therapy next week, and I am grateful that it has come bubbling to the surface.....so I understand the delay in getting PTSD.

Hi Carter in what context do you mean?
I think you are in based and will be aware of the charity help for heroes. The trauma which led to ptsd was acquired during my time in HM forces. I am therefore a recipient/beneficiary of Help for Heroes. We are collectively known as the band of brothers and our partners as band of sisters. Has your SO been to Combat Stress either? It's open to all ex forces regular or reserve who have served for at least one day! :)
