I'm from the north central US. I've spent some time living in the south. Most recently, that was in Oklahoma. I went into a story one day, where they were aware of where I was from because they knew me, and someone said, "Hey, you're not from around here. Say something!" (I said "something",:woot:) Apparently this is something that happens everywhere. :mad:Most of the time i was asked to say certain words for the comedy aspect -
I suspect its more about what the English see as the bastardisation of their own language by the Americans.
My vet refuses to acknowledge certain "Americanisms". If I tell him the dog is on the couch he responds that we don't own a couch. We have a lounge. :rolleyes:
I think you'll find that should be bastardising with an 's'...LMFAO... We specialize in bastardizing ;)
English and Americans always seem to think I'm Irish for some reason.
