I know absolutely nothing about your family or their views on theology, so I can't really answer your question. A friend of mine refers to Olsteen's brand of Christianity as "Name it and claim it". There's a lot of stuff in the Bible. I suppose, to a point, everyone picks and chooses what they want to pay attention to. Olsteen & Co focus on "Ask and it shall be given unto you." Others prefer to focus on "Thy will be done". That's the short version of the way I understand it. (I have a funny story about a time when I actually stood up in church and asked, "What about 'thy will be done'?" and shut everyone up for several minutes. LOL) Anyway, he appeals to people who like to hear stuff that's easy and fun to hear, for sure.

That wasnt really a question silly. I know why, it doesnt appeal to their "get on your knees now and confess all sin and POW be saved" sort of thinking. I once told my "end times" uncle (quite annoying) that I didnt believe in god and he dropped his potatoe chip "WHA...?"

Its why my dad calls him a "feel good preacher".

It insane how many "christians" forget about what's in the Bible. I have approached many of the family with Bible verses and they try to explain it away.

Anyway, yeah, i suppose "the power of positive thinking" is sort of retarded. Sort of like the annoying "Joy" in Inside Out; you just cant be "joyful & happy" all the time. It needs to balance out.

I wouldn't go that far. There is a lot of power in the words we use. It's a real thing and there's research to back it up. But, my own version of faith is that it's probably WAY more complicated than Olsteen & co seem to think. I think @FridayJones has it about right! :)
