Wow. Most of our insurances would never allow that. You are lucky! I needed to be in a week ago very badly. I hope your year gets better. I hope all of us have a better year.

Actually yes I have. For a period of about 5 yrs I was in more than out. Most stays were 2-4 weeks the longest lasting 6 months. So I can relate.

It's been several years since I've been hospital free, but I feel that lurking again. Trying to fight hard against what lands me there.

So sorry you are going through this.

I think the answer might be different for different nationalities. I've been in hospital twice in five years, but I suspect that in America I'd have been in more. Where I am, most wards have been closed, so there is nowhere to admit people in very great need. I had one occasion several years ago when I took an overdose while MH nurses were in the house, but they couldn't get me admitted then, as there were no beds in this or any adjoining district. It is common for people to be admitted hundreds of miles from home. Even when you are admitted, there is no therapeutic input, it is solely about physically containing people to try to maintain their safety.

I'd say, grab every bit of help you are offered and work on applying it. Especially PHP, which we don't have here, and sounds so useful to me. I'm sorry you are unwell enough to need it though.

When I was first diagnosed with sarcoidosis, I went to 3 hospitals in a 2 day period. So many procedures done, a rough estimation of 15 visits that year. If I need the help for this or that, I take it. I get frustrated often, if this hospital is saying one thing, while another says something else, but it is worth it in the end, to ensure I do what is best for me. I am not fussed about the number of visits, I am more concerned about the quality of care.
Do what is best for you.

@KeepingTime I am sorry to hear this. Did you ever apply for disability due t...
Yes. I lost my job in the first year of the hospitalizations. It took me awhile to get it but I eventually did.

And I assumed that you were referring to psychiatric hospitalizations. Tho you may not have been. What is your situation? Are you struggling with the "need" to be there? If that makes sense?

PTSD, Panic, Severe Major Depression and borderline traits. I have flashbacks nearly everyday, sometimes multiple times. 23 years of trauma, going through a divorce, cousin (best friend of my life) committed suicide, friend died in car wreck,
