there is something I recognise more and more... it gives hope and I feel more in control.

I always felt the need to stand for myself. I have never been a really shy person, but introverted. It was important for me to show others that I am strong and not easily influencable. But this facade showed cracks when I was with myself. It was a situation I hardly could handle.

When people have a different opinion about something, I dont agree automatically, just because I fear "not being liked". The more I stand for myself, without criticising myself, the more I feel secure and confident.

This doesnt feel bad... it really doesnt..

Hi Shankara. I came to this forum because I have been feeling more confident, but at the same time more aware of how deep my self disrespect goes. I think it's a good thing that I'm aware of that rather than feeling like it's just true. And I'm hopeful that I can stand by myself more and more.

For me, I don't think morals have a big role. For me, it's about fighting the impulse that was embedded in me a long time ago to choose others over myself.
