You Know You've Been Dissociating/being Absent Minded When...

When children's heights are not gonna lie your favorite antidepressant. By which you tell how long you've lost to depression staring and numbness.

Yo, over there! You've been growing and playing and joyful and exploring new things I take for granted and crying about things that ARE big only adults forget how much... for thiiis long, while I was persuaded time stopped and all that remains is doom and gloom.

Thanks for the tell kid homie. Life's good, and goes on.

When you have headspace arguments about that and by 'headspace arguments' I mean L. is so ending on a lockdown because no, danger isn't a f*cking challenge, we don't run toward it, the rational thing is to stay goddamn put.... as /all/ of our support network asked us to.

When you figure injuries only by needing to vomit.

Pain doesn't work as the same alert system, it gets compartmentalized with everything else.

When you can't tell if you're dissociating any more, and care only for functionality & meeting goals.

So...I was on my way to a recovery meeting tonight. One I have been going to for over a year. I found myself in a town I had never been in. I am NOT joking, I was lost! I got lost going somewhere I go on a weekly basis, and I keep questioning why I have been restricted from employment! !! Aye,Aye,Aye!

When you meet someone new and less than a minute later as they are talking to you start panicking...what was this person's name??? they literally JUST told me...now i am missing everything else they are saying by racking my brain for their name.

Nicknames :sneaky: I nickname people all of the time to remember them, and then use it as compliments and story time when I just cannot remember their names and need to ask.

It gets more cute and interesting and less embarassing, but honesty about not remembering it works too. Most of the time it isnt that big of a deal, when presented respectfully to the people as people.

From the past week:

When you "lose" (mindlessly set down) an item at a store TWICE or even reverse steal it... (paying it and forgetting to take it) And think, "f*ck it! I'll buy it next week!!!"

When you panic and worry that you lost your phone and later realize that it's in your left hand.

When you leave your laundry detergent on the top of your washing machine and it falls down and makes a mess twice.

When you confuse soap for your bottle of DIY produce wash and you get soap all over a perfectly good head of lettuce.

When you can't remember a nightmare, but you know that you had one. (probably a good thing though!!)

When it's 7PM and you swore it was only noon an hour ago.
