Smoking Pre/Post Trauma

So I had a poll up yesterday, apparently I'm not allowed to smoke it, because there's already one on a related topic... Not the same mind you, the currently existing poll asks "DO YOU SMOKE" and options are "YES NO TRYING TO QUIT"... What I am interested in is WHEN DID SMOKING BEGIN- BEFORE or AFTER trauma. The poll will probably just get removed again if I post it on here (even though it is NOT the same thing as any of the other polls- I DID check), so if you're interested PM me. I'm just interested in if you smoke currently, if you used to smoke but stopped, or if you've never smoked, and if you have smoked, did you start smoking BEFORE you ever experienced any traumatic event, or AFTER.

This is a fabulous concept. Rather than starting a poll just continue/start a thread with the specific issue.

I can't help you with this, wish I could. Don't know what my trauma was or when it happened.

Good luck

Hi,

As you have now posted this before I had seen it before responding to you in private, I have now moved it into this forum for discussion. Please reframe from the sarcastic remarks and attitude, as that will only cause more issues. Not everyone gets their own way here, not even myself. Please accept that and keep remarks out of the posts.

Excuse me? That last post was not directed to ME was it? I hope I have not stepped into the middle of something here.

My trauma lasted from as long as I can remember until I was 16, really. I mean, the hardest part of my life and what really caused my PTSD, so I believe. I started smoking heavily and identifying myself as a smoker when I was 11 and am now 28.

When it comes to smoking .... and PTSD... the first thing that came to mind was pot. As far as I know all my Army Buddies and most of the people that went in the Marines now smoke pot. They smoke a lot of pot. I refuse. Some people say its medicine, some people say its poison. I just don't give a hoot.

My trauma began as a child. The youngest I can remember is around 7 yrs old, but then again there is a lot I don't remember, so..... I started smoking at 8 yrs old, at one time in my life I was up to 4 packs a day. Each time I tried to quit, I smoked less when I went back to smoking. I finally quit,(cold turkey) at age 49..

So, yes, I started smoking AFTER the trauma started.....And I have since quit...
