How Could I Know What It Tasted Like?

Truffles taste like pussy.

GHB, certain Chinese soups, a few kinds of coins, a certain common industrial cleanser, some raw egg whites, sea urchins, a couple different kinds of sinus infections, & one very bizarre yet oddly popular yogurt all taste like cum.

Cheap hotdogs taste like sweaty balls & taint.

Some kinds of mud, grasses, and warmed up plastics taste like ass.

Cantaloupe juice tastes like breast milk.

Assuming it's one of these 5 you're talking about? Generally healthy human sex organs? And not getting into bodily wastes (as you have your own to compare to), or dead things and those tastes and smells. Or sex toys/lube/latex and those tastes and smells, before or after use?

I have to agree with Umese. I'd be really reluctant to confirm/deny abuse based on what you've written, in part because I'm not even sure exactly what you're talking about, but every body part I can think of has tastes, textures, and flavors found elsewhere in the world and if you're only reading a description? Going off of your imagination to verify a memory, just seems like 3 blind men & the elephant room for error.

I couldn't even read that. Was it necessary to be so graphic? This wasn't some f*cking daydream.

Semen...which is what I assume you Are talking about, to me tastes like dirty dishwater smells. It is a very unique taste and it doesn't always taste the same. Sometimes it's a little salty. I don't know how else to describe it.
I'm not sure what you read but it could have described alot of things. When I have a sinus infection, I taste salt when it starts draining. Just an fyi.

How was I supposed to know it wasn't necessary to be vague, but a choice? Or that you wouldn't appreciate someone else using plain speech? When I can't use plain speech, I appreciate it when people can. Shrug. Different preferences.

If you feel safe enough would you like to say more about this?
Years ago I had what could only be described as a fully acted out flashback of something I've never experienced.

Feel free to lay down boundaries for what you don't want on here. Do you mean you felt you were there and moved reacted as if you were? As well as full sensory experience?

I find it interesting that essentially false memory syndrome is being pushed here. When we all know that the false memory thing is just a lie. Our minds don't make up this shit out of nowhere.

The OP had a flashback people!!!!

If I went out on the main board and started telling people that their flashbacks weren't real, I'd be massacred. But in here, it's ok.

That's f*cked up.

No one here has said it wasn't a flashback.

The OP asked if something was a hallucination or a flashback, but if it was a hallucination how would they know what it tasted like? Except, come to find, they've never tasted it in real life, so they don't actually know what it tastes like.

And then everyone who has asked any questions or tried to clarify things with the OP has been clobbered.

Flashback possible? Yes.
Memory or ancillary memory possible? Yes.
Hallucination possible? Yes.
Imagination possible? Yes.

So I'm not going to lie and say the only possibility is that the "flashback" is a flashback, when someone is trying their damndest to figure something both highly personal & damned distressing to them out. I believe they have the right to all the information, and then can make up their own minds.

I feel the need to weigh in. I read the title and thought soap, bad soap. I knew from the title.

I have a bad, bad issue with severe nightmares. When It happens with the taste I spend end of being sick and spending the night laying on the floor in front of the toilet.

Is your only flashback from 4 years ago? Still, the fact that it bothered you so much that you remember it this well is alarming. I had my first nightmare at 10. I remember it vividly even though it was mild in comparison. I remember it because I didn't know that it could happen. That even when it wasn't happening, it was. It was every bit as frightening to me as the real experience.

I believe people know. If it feels wrong it probably is.

Do you mean you felt you were there and moved reacted as if you were? As well as full sensory experience?

Yes. Full sensory for touch and taste. And sight (I will explain later). I was gagging so severely that I was borderline throwing up. Needed a bucket. I was "suffocating". I was not in control of what my body was doing. I was aware of the room around me but hardly able to interact with it since my body was acting like some sort of puppet. My sight was.... my eyes were physically open but what my brain "saw" "inside" was that my eyes were closed as I felt something pressing against my face- even though in reality my eyes were open and I could see the real (present) room around me- but I was "seeing" the inside of my eyelids as well because in the flashback my eyes were closed.

I don't remember if hearing was involved. Smell was not involved either because it simply wasn't or because that "suffocating" included my nose being pressed closed. My breathing was very affected.

I actually believe that false memories ARE a thing and this is why I'm asking questions.

No one here has said it wasn't a flashback.
Can we rule out imagination? How in the world could I have imagined this when I had so little to work with/didn't know anything about?

Can a false memory be produced when there is no information to work with?

I feel the need to weigh in. I read the title and thought soap, bad soap. I knew from the title.

No, it wasn't soap, but I do appreciate your input. @Eba got it. And, yes, while the incident only occurred that one time I have had severe aversions to anything that touches the subject or resembles any element of what I experienced- even the gagging comes back immediately. However, these aversion type reactions are nowhere near the strength (volume.... like "loud"... vivid...) as that one time. It has bothered me since and in-between triggers I conveniently "forget" about it. It was only until a recent discussion with a friend about their S.O. that made me wonder and that's when I decided to do a quick search to see if my "memory" was "wrong". I was not comfortable asking my friend for this information... I felt I needed to do it when I was in a safe place emotionally, mentally, and physically (ie: alone).

Yes, I have met a few a few people who have had false memory and two of them on here. It seems its usually suggested to them and usually by more than one influential people - usually therapists. Apparently the more sensory information and vividness the less likelihood of a false memory. That excludes other phenomenon such as hallucinations, drugs brain tumours etc of course.

I would consider if it could have represented anything at the time that you were feeling or processing that was traumatic. In other words a metaphorical expression of other things.
