If your not a bad person, you have nothing to worry about. Trust in your values, and trust that you believe in your values because you do. The trauma will make you think otherwise.

Can you talk to someone you know about it? There is no shame in what happened to you, can you find anyone around you who...
I am not in therapy at this time. I have been trying to think of someone to talk to but as of yet this is the most I have talked about that event. Watching chat brought it to mind and I thought I would post anonymous thread and see what came of it. I can not even think about telling just anyone face to face. It was a terrible experience. Thanks for your input It has help me understand a little bit about it. One thing for sure is that it is not just me. There are others out there experiencing the same reactions to sexual violence.

Yea its insidious and tricky, its so hard to tell anyone face to face i understand. luckily this Online Space is here, and you can post anything you need to here. Also If you find someone you trust to talk to, i bet they wont think ill of you they will feel Overwhelmed with sympathy by how much you are shouldering. Your fighting keep it up, I know the turmoil you describe. Its not your fault.

I read an article in Science Magazine, I believe, that talked about how the body is designed to always take care of itself to prevent injury. Therefore, in females, the physiological arousal is actually a survival technique. The body doesn't know if the penetration is going to be from force or done in love. That's the mind/heart's department. The body just responds the way it is designed to respond and that translates into signs of sexual arousal (lubrication, swelling, blood rushing to certain areas, etc). If this didn't happen, the body would be hurt more when the act took place.

This really helped me and I hope it lets you give yourself some grace in this matter. I figure if the body did what it was supposed to do during the rape(s) then the body would also respond that way to the flashback. It's all connected. I hope you can eventually be able to say, Thank you Body, Good Job for taking care of me automatically. Because if left to our mind to do the job, we would possibly have suffered much greater trauma in our 'scene of the crime' parts.

Please be easy and gentle with yourself. Especially right now, Friend.

This.

It happens to me too. It's awful, but try to be kind to yourself.
