Boots

Yea, holy shit...
I had Oakley boots... not Nike SFB's.
Couldn't remember. Oakley in the stores there like, WHAT?
Ok so a portion of my deployment money went to expensive gear lol.
Gimme 3 pairs of shades!

I rode in Chippewa jungle boots that laced up high all through parts of training (when they allowed you to wear non-US issue stuff) and on into the jungle. Comfortable even when wet, and never squeaked. The SF guys clued me in. Great boots. The site has all kinds, snake boots, mountain, desert. They have been around since 1901.

Looks like sludge is gonna do some shopping.

I do have a pair of the old waffles I wear when out in wet locations. I have had Chippewas in the past- they were bad ass stompers. Hard to find here for some reason.

I wear a really weird shoes size. has to be a USA "B" width, anywhere from 10.5 male to 12 male depending on style and manufacturer. Have to do some research shopping, me.

Ha. I know Airborne (spelling? f*cking army & all your guys weird ass shit :P) got oakleys overseas. Only cause I didn't know he was on leave, walked into my friend's house and proceeded to have a mother of an anxiety attack when I saw his boots just inside the hall. FFS. Panic attack over boots. How retarded. Anyhow, we proceeded to have a good natured argument over the oaks, and I lost.

I liked OTB boots, but they don't handle getting wet very well.

Anything is better than standard issue boondockers though...

I bought two pairs of Bates, all leather with ventilation on the sides back in the early '90's. They crapped out about a year ago. I've gone to another pair of Bates, a 'combat' model. Mostly synthetic with side vents. Seem good. About 125 a pair. The first pairs of bates went though the mill, dirt, wet, cement, chems and just kept on going. The ones I have now are good and good support but they get a bit hot and make my feet sweat. If you need a lot of ventilation go for the old jungle boots that are still available online.
