What Would You Do If You Experienced Something Supernatural?

Hi:hello:Noone who has written so far is a crack pot ok:naughty:
I am really enjoying reading your stories because i believe in the ?
All i can add is that my dad saw his uncle in the living room who had shot himself 1 year before, the room went really cold and this ghostly figure of my uncle moved around the room making the curtains move as he went.

I haven't actually seen a ghost myself but have smelt my nana around me and i have had my cheeck touched(i have automatically thought it a moth or fly and brushed my cheeck to get it off and it has happened again, like whoever it is is playing with me. My pictures are on occasions getting tilted and i have had ornaments moved.

My ex husband decribed coming back from a place called Raglan here in New Zealand and it has a long stretch of road that wineds around as it climbs the mountain then decends down the other side, very dangerous stretch, anyway my ex said he was travelling pretty fast around these bends when a woman(my ex could see that it was a ghost) stepped out from the side of the mountain and was waving her arms frantically, he slowed down after seeing that and believes she was saving him from harm.

I like the dejavus, they are awesome :thumbs-up

Pebs:smile:

I don't say I believe in 'supernatural' occurrences, rather that there are aspects of this world that we don't fully understand yet...I often need proof to substantiate things and yet, once at work I had an eerie experience that left me feeling like I was losing my mind (this is WAAAY before PTSD). We were catching some down time, I was lying on a couch, my partner on the other and I suddenly felt very lightheaded and strange almost like there was water (or something) flowing through my body, I opened my eyes to look at my partner and I KNEW I was awake. I then felt as if something was pushing me and I literally had to push back to prevent from falling on the floor. I heard a strange hushed angry whisper near my ear that said "Get off the couch!" I thought I was going nuts. I was going to wake up my partner but just as I was about to say his name it suddenly stopped. I didn't try to sleep at all the rest of that night.
Many people at my station looked at me strange publicly but later came to me to tell me privately of their 'wierd' occurrences there not always on night shift but some were similar.
I hesitate to call it a 'haunting' like my colleagues do but when you think about it, its strange, with the amount of people that die in the back of our ambulances, why would something haunt the station, a place that patients never see? It just didn't add up to me and I just put it off to exhaustion - that place between sleep/consciousness.

Hi Medic72

It is possible it was someone who worked there in the past, who loved the job and the building, but don't know they have passed, so are just going about things as they did then.

It could also be just residual energy, meaning they don't know you are there. They are just reliving what they did, like a video stuck on a loop that keeps on playing.

Just a theory about things like this.

Amethist.

Interesting experience Medic72. At the time of the incident was there something extra urgent that needed taking care of? I kinda agree with what you are saying about what we now call the supernatural being a part of nature that we do not understand yet.

One thing that comes to mind is the fact that science is always coming up with new theories about new types of matter and the way mass and energy convert. Is it possible that such a thing as "spiritual matter" (for lack of a better term) exists and science just has not found it yet? Some sort of refined but sentient mass or energy (or both) that is around the world but most have not experienced it yet? I remember hearing that all people loose 28 grams of body weight when they pass. Does anybody here have experience or data to back that up? Just some guesses in the dark.

Amethist has some good ideas and theories.

Lots of stuff to ponder

Liz H.

If you are looking at spiritual things as a whole then science will never answer your questions, because at this time it can't be done.

Sorry to put a spoke in the wheel like that but it's a true fact.

Amethist.

I agree, if the building was used before we moved into it and someone passed away there, I can see the binding tie but I've known of only one person who used to work out of that station who passed away but she had been gone for years - she wasn't even a medic anymore when she died, she was doing what she loved most, policing.

I've simply chalked it up to something that I will never fully understand, except perhaps after my time here has passed. I kinda like to believe in transcendence to fuller consciousness when we pass, its hard for me to accept that the energy that animates us just dissipates.

Did anyone notice that this question is being tackled by mostly women?

I have had meetings with ghosts too, but my scientist husband thinks I am nuts. So I asked him, "Since energy can't be created or destroyed, can't the energy that makes someone (or something) alive change form at death? A form that the living can perceive?"

I jokingly use the idea that milk changes form to cheese and yogurt before it gets nasty.

Also, "Since the living, some of us, can perceive ghosts of dead people, is that due to the fact that Time is a wave and not truly linear?"
I use the example of deja vu.

He had no answer, but I personally think that for whatever reason, some dead people's energy can be seen, heard, felt, or smelled after the body dies. Do they choose to allow themselves to be seen? Why are some dead people or animals lingering around while others don't? What perceptions do the ghosts have of the living? Do they choose who sees them? Do they choose at some point to be a ghost, and if so, what are all the options after death? I want to be an informed consumer, so I need to do some research on this before I die. =>

Me too!!!!

Amethist: You did not put a spoke in the wheel at all. It is true that science has not progressed to that point yet. I don't think that means it can NEVER be done though. Will we see it in our lifetimes? Probably not. Many generations from now... assuming we do not wipe ourselves out first... maybe. Science is growing more quickly today then it did 100 years ago. Who knows how fast that progress will become in another 100 years? Quantum physics already has many old school atheists starting to go agnostic. Two generations ago this would have been though impossible. We cannot predict what our grandchildren and great grandchildren will discover. We can only hope.

Medic72: Now that you mention it, there has been a conspicuous absence of men participating in this. Coincidence? Male ego? Maybe women are more open to the spirit world? Who knows.

2Quilt: You make some excellent points. I recently sat in on a humanist group discussion, and one of the things that caught me off guard was the speaker stating that recognition of the unknown is now an accepted part of atheistic humanism for many people. As a scientist, I am sure that your husband must recognize the importance of putting observation before hypothesis. If so many have observed and documented these things, then perhaps it is time to move on to the experiment phase rather than just write all the witnesses off as "nuts".

Great discussions everybody! Keep it up!!!

Best wishes,

Liz H.

Wow, I'm sitting here shocked because I have had these experiences since I was a kid too but learned early on I shouldn't tell anyone.

I guess I always thought I was crazy.

Things happen a couple different ways for me - either I dream events, especially deaths of people before they happen or I see visions like a short snippet of a movie if I touch certain objects. The last way is if people are feeling "emotionally charged" around me; I know their thoughts - word for word. I used to be able to hide it all pretty well, but over the last 5 years things have grown out of control with the PTSD being out of whack.

Here is a funny story: my kids know about it - they are 15, 13, & 11. They have always thought it was fun to have Mommy know what is in their mind until they became teenagers. I can't just shut it off though some times I ignore what I "hear" to give them privacy. The problem is, if I am not facing them, I can not tell the difference if the words I hear are out loud or in their heads. I end up reacting to their thoughts, thinking they said those words to me directly. Once I "heard" my son say his sister was stupid and I started lecturing him about respect and all that Mom stuff. He kept saying he did not say that and his sisters denied he said it too. I was so angry thinking they were all lying or covering for each other until he pulled me aside and told me it was in his head. Then I felt bad because the girls figured it out and were angry at their brother.

I still feel like a freak though. I hate "knowing" things. It's bad enough I have to carry my own secrets but now I end up carrying other people's too.

Thanks for letting me share that. I have never told a therapist that in fear that they would lock me up or heavily medicate me!

Amy Lou

Amy Lou,

It must be hard to block out all that "noise" from those you are around. That being said... cool story! It must take some serious self control to give your kids their privacy. Good job!

I understand your reluctance to tell your therapist. I made the mistake of saying too much one time and wound up on zyprexa (nasty stuff... very bad reactions). I did have another therapist that was more open to the idea though. I had mentioned auras... at first she was skeptical... she asked what hers looked like. I had not been looking so I had to tell her that I could not see it yet. I started looking and by the end of the session I could see it. It was beautiful. Bright silvery light in her eyes, shades of yellow and pink around her... like a very nice sunset.... except for a small dark area around her feet that looked like stale energy. When I said that she started talking about how she grounded herself by walking around barefoot outside and she always had a preference for sandals and open shoes. She was cool.

I am so glad you chose to share your experience with us!

Best wishes,

Liz H.

I want to see and communicate with ghosts. I want to ask them all kinds of questions. Where do I sign up to have a ghost meeting and then, if I think they enjoy their existance, how do I sign up to be a ghost? Yes, I realize that my energy has to change forms, but if I don't believe in a heaven, can I haunt? Can I time-travel? Can I scare the hell out of people I want to scare?

I see you are already making your list of people to say "BOO" to!

I am not sure why some people experience these things and others do not. Its one of those great mysteries of life and death. I also doubt that "all ghosts" have the same experience. I know that the energies I have felt that the "somethings" I have seen are different. Some seem happy and benevolent, others seem angry or malevolent. I don't know what makes the difference. Its not like I did not have things I wanted to ask... it is hard to explain. :dontknow:

I have notices some patterns with this though and maybe I can share/ask a few questions.

1. How close have you personally been to your own death?
2. You mentioned you do not believe in heaven, what do you believe?
3. Are you sure you are ready to see whatever it is that is out there?
4. If you did see something, how accepting of it would you be?
5. Have you ever tried the aura reading techniques that are described on the internet? Meditation? Fasting?

It seems that proximity to your own mortality seems to have some sort of correlation. It also seems that predetermined belief structures can have an effect on how open the mind and heart is to those things. I do not think that seeing or not seeing is an indication of someone being better or worse. It seems to be something that some people have a predisposition towards and others do not.

I have also noticed that those who offer "psychic" or "aura reading" services for money are less credible then those who refuse financial compensation. I think trying to make quick cash by selling ideas about the afterlife (or spirituality in general) is a big no no. :naughty:

I wish you the best in your quest to understand the spiritual realm. Whatever path you choose to take or avoid, I hope it brings you peace and happiness. :Hug_emoticon:
