Can I ask if you have a therapist and a psychiatrist? Do you have supportive friends and family?[...
I have a therapist that I’ve been seeing for several years. I have psych pa also, but I don’t feel like she listens to me anymore. There was a dr one that I was going to that was excellent, but out of town. I’ve thought about switching back.

My family is supportive, but sometimes very difficult for me to be around. Most of them don’t understand the extent and impact of my trauma, I think partly because of their own dysfunction. I don’t have many friends anymore, because it feels like they don’t have a clue what’s it’s like. I’m not allowed to talk about certain aspects of my trauma which has caused many issues itself.
 
@Muted I think with friends, it’s important to keep trauma talk out of the picture, unless they too have suffered. People just don’t know how to handle it and they end up saying the wrong thing because they don’t know what to say or how to deal with it....

Good point. I think it’s hard right now to do that, because much of my time is focused on trauma work. I didn’t have a problem staying off that topic with my friends at work, but I’m home now most of the time. It’s hard to separate out the trauma from me, because it’s changed me in a lot of ways.
 
It’s a huge focus in your life, but it hasn’t taken it over. Just keep working on your trauma piece by piece and I promise it will get better.... coping and grounding skills too, keep doing them...
