If I could have a spirit guide, it would be ....an eagle, and I believe it is! If I could be an animal when I die, it would be an eagle. The eagle is powerful (something I'd love to feel), a leader, and legend says they are a messenger to the heavenly beings because they fly so high. They are known protectors, providers, and are protected here in the US (a local benefit). Two eagles came to my home when I first moved in....the eagle chose me I believe and it appears only when needed.

I love to do photography...I love bird photography. I love to photograph eagles as well as other predatory birds. They are so beautiful. But the eagle is also a respected bird....and eagles are responsible and they mate for life (unless something sad happens to their mate). Eagles are strong and beautiful. When I'm having my anxiety attack over visiting my family, and I'm driving in the car, more than 80% of the time, an eagle flies in viewing range. It also appears on bad days to T....you know those days the car itself is yelling "Go home, turn around!" Sometimes eagles will fly alongside me as I drive, sometimes they cross rather close to the car, sometimes they will capture my attention as they dive for fish. I get a message that is calming and helpful in the moment. The eagle, when it appears, gives me instant peace and strength when I see one. In that moment, I know things will be okay! So the eagle is my spirit guide (no it isn't a hallucination....this is a real bird that really appears).

What is your spirit guide? If you don't have one, what animal might you choose?

@Bkinder Eagles are my absolute favourite! I have always loved birds in general, but eagles in particular I have always been drawn to. Like you say, they have such strong powerful, protective and majestic associations I find.
It is my absolute dream to do a falconry experience one day. I've held an eagle owl (on the leather glove I wore) which was so awesome.
NZ used to have an eagle called Haast's eagle (now extinct) which had a wingspan of up to 3m. If I could choose any animal, I would choose that one:)

Cat. I believe my cat IS my spirit guide. He and I are amazingly similar in so many ways except, o...
My cat is named Christmas....as I got her around Christmas so I could have Christmas all year round! Interestingly, Christmas only needs to listen to me to decide whether she should bunk on the pillow beside me with her paw touching me or whether I'm all good and she can roam the house without having to come to bed and stand watch over me till I fall asleep. Aren't cats so intuitive?....Christmas truly is a gift, I think. Anyway, there is someone who also understands me....my cat. It seems like you are lucky to have such a good cat to keep you company and be there for you.

Pretty sure one of mine is the Wolf. I've had dreams where big white wolves talked to me, and I have a special connection to all dogs, but especially large shepherd-type ones. I can't imagine life without a dog in it in some way, and I regularly get wolf-cards when I play with my Animal-power cards. Yep, at least one of my spirit guides is a wolf/dog.

I love eagles too (obviously), but my greatest animal affinity is the Wolf.

I have two, one is not an animal, butterfly's. Even in the winter, when things are erratic and my mind won't settle, I will see a butterfly. I used to live in a house that had a huge oak tree out back. There were so many butterfly's that came thru there, I designated it a 'Butterfly Crossing'.
The other is a Cardinal. Usually a male. It was my moms favorite bird, and when I am sad, the kind of sad that turns you inside out, I will always see a Cardinal. They will land on the fence... sing their beautiful song, to let me know everything will be ok, Or be in a nearby tree and let me know they are there.

This is a great thread!!! What a soothing way to start the day. Thank you.

I love crows. I see them all the time and they're cawing outside my apartment in the morning. They're huge, smart beautiful birds. If you feed them they'll begin to trust you and even bring you things back. They stay with their families. They also pass information down generationally like chickens.
