Eft/tapping for anxiety

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience using EFT/tapping for anxiety (or any other PTSD symptoms for that matter), and if so was it useful?/how long did it take to notice results?/did you use a generic tapping script eg. from the internet or a youtube video, or did you make a specific script for your situation?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I use tapping as a way of -not- using negative coping mechanisms, a lot of the time. It can be useful for me, to help me manage PTSD symptoms, including anxiety.

For results, honestly, it started off at least -minorly- helping me, I think just doing the ritual of it, itself, can help distract you from things that are bothering you, and all that. Over time it got better at helping me. It's no miracle cure by any means, for me, lmao. It's just another tool for the toolbox. Sometimes it works, sometimes it helps, sometimes my problems are too much for it, or it just doesn't really work.

It's a great thing to have, though, and usually it does at least something for me.

I have a "script" I guess, learned in my trauma sensitive yoga class. It goes down from the crown of your head, down to your knees, working different spots along the way. I know there are many youtube videos. I myself like the collarbone spots, and sometimes use them on their own. It's a general thing that I apply to all situations. I am sure that people go much deeper than what I do with it, but what I have done, has helped me out.

Hey @Sweetleaf thanks for sharing. I have done some in the past but find it hard to get to the point where it becomes habit. But I really feel I should try to, so it's encouraging to hear it has helped you :)

In a yoga class one of the teachers tried to get us to do tapping. Then it became making fists and hitting our muscles all over our body. This triggered me intensely with the noise of impact, and watching so many people willingly injure themselves ina darkened atmosphere. I tried to simply sit this exercise out, but when I started crying I had to leave the room. Whatever. It all sucks anyways.

I have experience with Emotional Freedom Technique. I don't have a script for it because when I do it my therapist is doing it as well and she leads me. I don't tap alone because I find it to be too hard to focus on it. It does help with anxiety and sometimes even with body memories.
