Back to school & crowded hallways

School has started back up again and there are too many students to fit in the building. The hallway intersections are so packed that the people are often at a standstill. I experienced csa and I have a problem with touch, so being touched and bumped into by so many people in the hallways makes me panic and I start to dissociate. Is this normal?? Has anyone else experienced this?? If so, what did you do?

What happens when you dissociate? How does it impact your school day?

I had that issue when I was in school, too.

When I dissociate, I don't retain anything that I'm learning. I honestly don't even remember most of the classes...

Sorry you had the same experiences. It's frustrating!

You'll want to bring this up with your therapist and anyone else involved in your treatment. They will have gone through this process with other patients. Your school will have procedures in place for students with difficulties. It would be helpful if you start tracking the difficulties that you've been having with examples. That will give them a starting point in trying to determine what accommodations you might need.

I was able to have my locker located in better areas, which was a big help for me. One year they gave me one at the very end of a hallway near a stairwell that not too many people needed to use and another year they actually just gave me two. It kept me from trying to get into other lockers because I couldn't remember which one was mine.
