The Clever Guts diet Dr Michael Mosley Simon & Schuster 2017

Really good book about our keeping the microbiome in our body happy and in balance.

Lots of interesting science information, studies etc., that prove to me 'you really are what you eat'.

It's got some good recipes in it too. Sugarless ones and I like that kind.

I made a batch of eggplant, chocolate brownies. I know very weird and sounds terrible :wtf: But they were/are quite nice. Shall make again :) Recipe is in the book. (but if anyone is intrigued it's available online too.) Who knew??

Very good recipe book. Lots of simple & economical dishes.

I'm not following the diet but I would if I had to. I just like the recipes.

Basically it's for people that need to lose weight, reduce sugar intake, are pre-diabetic or concerned about their diet and don't want to follow a fad. It's founded on the Mediterranean food principles. Which are everything I like to eat anyway :)

Did you purée the eggplant or...I’m intrigued lol

Super easy and yummy. I find I can just eat one and I don't want anymore so even though it is a small recipe it lasts well. Very healthy for your gut too. No sugar (except for the dates) no butter and only a quite small amount of coconut oil.

I've been reading journal articles about controlling blood sugar, homesteading articles, and It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. It is a novel, and was published in 1939. It describes how a political candidate came to office by blaming immigrants, the poor, and the liberal news for the depression. It has a strange likeness to America today. I will comment more when I'm done.
 
Hey @DharmaGirl yeah I think it would be an good recipe for those needing to monitor their blood sugar levels.

One of the books I am reading, The 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book has a companion book called, The 8 week blood sugar diet by Dr Michael Mosley, and it is about his journey with Type 2 Diabetes. If you have Type 2 - this could be interesting for you to read too.

Basically - Mosley went to the doctor, was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabities and was recommended to go on medication. (his father had it too - sad ending there) Anyway being a bit of sciency nerdy type of guy and a doctor he started researching Type 2 Diabetes. He has produced a documentary and a book on reversing Type 2 Diabetes and has in fact done this himself (as have a lot of other people according to the testimonials).

Some people just like the recipes (me) and some people use it to reduce the sugar they eat and some people use it to lose weight.

If you fall into any of those categories you may like the recipes. I made a chicken curry last night (from the book) and it was ok - mind you I would have eaten it anyway because I don't like to waste food. :rolleyes: and taste is a highly individual thing.
