DID DID support groups?

Anyone know of any DID support groups that are legitimate and safe? You can private message me if you want. Thanks!

None. :)

But if you looked for dramatic, devolving into unscientific nonsense, name calling and worsening that disorder, I would have a few recommendations.

Yeah, I used to belong to one I really liked, but it has seriously devolved and is mostly inactive now. Another I joined was militant with rules. And the admins were vicious, not at all compassionate. I've since started just to read on my own and write. It seems that most forums that are strictly DID can get out of hand pretty quickly. And there is often a lot of comparing and contrasting. It would be awesome to find one that was just supportive and that offered resources, but I haven't found one yet.

I heard a few good DID online support groups mentioned on the forum recently. I'll have to look to see if I can find the thread again...

Edit to add: These are the ones that were recommended in the other thread 1) Psych Forums and 2) Mosaic Minds Link Removed

I have no idea whether they are good or not, just saw them recommended from ppl on here who I trust.

PODS have a forum but I have only looked at other parts of their site, so can't say how good, or not, it is - depends to some degree how you define 'legitimate and safe' I suppose, but it is moderated and has quite extensive guidelines. I think you have to subscribe to join it, but it might be worth checking out.

I am a member of PODS. the forum is well catered for and friendly. It is UK centric, but open to international people as well, and there is a subscription of around £4/$5 a month. The subscription keeps the user numbers lower, but also the quality higher.

Thank you so much everyone! It definitely seems like it'd be nice to have more people to talk to about this and find some more support.

Thanks for posting this, @Soupsarah. They have an impressive website. Wondering if you can speak a little to your experience with the "philosophy" of the group? I have been part of groups that have a very open policy - they recognize that DID is a highly individualized disorder and respect everyone's way of managing it. I've been involved with others who had very rigid guidelines and beliefs about how a person with DID should be treated.

Hi Whiteraven, I'll try to give you an idea of what I think the forum is like:
There are a few rules that seemed "limiting" at the time of joining, but seem to make sense now. First one is no parts/alters under 21 allowed to post. In fact most users only use their "main" part to post there is very little (if none) cross dialogue between parts. This means that sometimes you cannot post, but it keeps the threads nice and clean and on topic. There is no PM or messaging, again strange, but does stop any "behind the scenes" chat going on. Everything is out in the open. Also, others are referred to as parts (not alters or personalities etc.). It is fairly active with about 30-50 posts a day and the members are very supportive and knowledgeable. Most threads started are responded too within a few minutes. There are people from all types of therapies and at different stages of healing. That is the overall message that the forum is for healing and support. It is very UK based with the members split between NHS care and private. There are a few active users from outside the UK and they seem to integrate very well. Parts are not really the main focus, but they are discussed. A lot of the talk is about therapy issues, problems living with the disorder and other relevant or current issues around DDs.
The support is tremendous for me, and genuine care and compassion is displayed by many on there. It is closely moderated, but mods never really post, they either delete/lock posts or ban users. It works on the whole. There is a helpline to talk to a psychologist and an occasional magazine that is sent through the post. Overall it has helped me greatly.

Hope that helps.
