Three more days until a new year✨
What are your goals for 2019?

I am hoping to have my scoliosis surgery in early 2019, and be as close to 'normal' as possible by this time next year.

I am also aiming to have no hospitalisations in 2019 aside from my surgery and routine post-op stay (this year I had so many hospitalisations that I lost count).

And finally, to have no suicide attempts (I attempted in May 2018), and to stay clean from self harm, and continue my new-ish healthy relationship with food.

Here's to a better year for all of us. Cheers.

I hope you get all you want @bellbird! Those are great goals and you deserve it.

So there’s a me that is like accomplish all the things and be done. But I will, without a doubt, fail that. I’m learning the whole it being a slow process thing.

So with that in mind, my goals for 2019 are to:

Continue with yoga and hiking at minimum all year.

Get accepted at University of Texas at Arlington in the anthropology program.

No suicide attempts.

Move into my own place.

Get and finalize my divorce.

Love this :)

And your goals are both super wonderful @bellbird and @Kubash16 !

Okay, lemme think...

1) I want to get my OCD stuff about to-do lists under control by Easter so I can enjoy my Easter break (and everything after that, lol). This has been hugely messing with me and I finally worked out what the dynamic is, so 3 months should be plenty of time to see good progress.

2) I plan to set up a series of monthly/ quarterly appointments for doctors/ therapy/ social workers, so I actually get that basic self-care stuff done (been very neglectful the past 3 years due to way too much work). The social workers will help me with paperwork, so that will be a big burden for me to not be carrying on my own.

3) I still dunno what the frig the situation is with my ex, it's been a ridiculously complicated and painful back and forth and last time we spoke, we were both still in love but just hurt beyond belief (we both have PTSD) and I dunno how to move forward from this, other than to just hope that by not contacting him for a full 12 months, maybe that will give us both time to heal and move on. So that's my goal. No contact for a full 12 months. Of all my goals, this will be the hardest to achieve.

4) I wanna keep doing parts work, cos that's been and continues to be super healing for me.

5) I wanna get about twice as much sleep in 2019 as I got in 2018. Sleep deprivation is insane.

Hmmm... and a huge bunch of other stuff... lol... Maybe my goal should be to stop setting so many goals, cos it's really hard to achieve so many goals!!

Thanks for creating this thread... I love thinking about plans around New Year's!

And it's going to be really cool reading everyone else's plans for 2019!

Love your goals! About this though. This is a trap I tend to get myself into. I let the to do list go on and on and then I’m overwhelmed and nothing gets accomplished. So I would suggest keeping a limit on it. That way there is better focus and easier measurement and you aren’t overwhelmed.

I joined a healthplan that has "Silver Sneakers" which is basically a free gym membership. I am hoping I get inspired to get up, get out of the house and use it. I want to be more energetic and healthier.

I'd love to be able to stop my nighttime eating. I weigh a lot more than I should and it is basically because I am eating an extra meal each night that I don't need at all! I think my sleep medication is causing this, so I am cutting back on it and hope to stop being dependent on it altogether.

This past year I completed a crocheted blanket. This coming year I am working on a scarf and hat set for my niece and then will hope to work on some other crocheting projects. Crocheting is my mindfulness. It keeps me in the present moment and is comforting and relaxing.

I want to continue to work and do my job well.

I too would like to stay out of the Hospital. I have not been in one this year (2018) so there is a good chance I will continue to stay out of Hospitals in 2019. It is a great goal. So, to do with this, I plan to follow my Dr.s advices and do whatever it takes to stay healthy.

Yup! :)
But at least no one can tell us we have too few goals

You can do it, @Sophy !!
We'll be here to support you, too.

That's really great, @Changing4Best ! I am sure you will keep that up in 2019

Great thread and i wish all of you the best in achieving all your goals. I will do my part to cheer you on : )
My goals:
Get fitter and loose the weight but this time keep it off !
Continue with the reduction in s/h and hopefully stop altogether.
Give myself a break a little more ie when im having a tough time practice self soothing and relaxation rather than being too hard on myself. I work so hard in therapy and in being able to function - i know i deserve to chill a little ...
Continue to journal the good stuff and focus on this when times are tough - I'm fortunate to have amazing family, friends, work colleagues and therapists - i need to allow myself to embrace and enjoy this more and use this to support my healing journey.
Reduce or stop completely the rituals/ocd - whoa its gonna be tough but im gonna give it a go.
Have another successful year in my job/role but whilst improving my work/life balance. Work is a great ‘avoidance’ tool for me but my partner isnt happy at the long hours etc - i know i need to get a better balance.

Well, a few things to start to focus on or continue to focus on ... gosh i think i need to lay down !!

Learn to bake. Something other than pie and brownies.
If you like cheesecake, this here's my favourite recipe:
Jo Seagar Baked American Cheesecake
It's a good recipe in the sense that a) it tastes awesome, and b) it takes little effort (place all ingredients in a food processor (or a hand-held mixer works well too) and blend) but produces a pretty great product; good for a new-to-baking moral boost.

All the best for your other goals, too, @Ronin ?
And yours too, @Missycat :hug::hug:
