So I already mentioned that I surf the Internet too much those days. There is another board, not a ptsd board where I mentioned vet does CBT for ptsd? There was a woman. I think she has ptsd, who wrote... I summarize... “What? CBT? Why isn’t he doing real traumtherapy, traumafocussed therapy?“. He is doing CBT for a person with ptsd offered by a ptsd specialist but I do to think it is trauma focused therapy (not sure here).

Just because I wanna be sure. We have been told CBT is best for combat ptsd and this is true, isn’t it? Sorry for posting that much those days. I actually want to post less, but I think this is important and I wanted to ask.

I don't know if it's the best for combat PTSD or not, but Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is one of the therapies used to treat PTSD. I did it myself while seeing a trauma therapist.
I would conclude that unless this woman is herself a trauma therapist, it might be best to assume she is playing "backseat psychologist".

I believe you are using the wrong tense here.
If you meant something still happening, the correct word would be "these" for the present tense. "Those" is used for something long gone and over for past tense, or something that is not yet happened for future tense.

The person doesn't know what she is talking about. Trauma focused CBT is one of the most approved therapies for PTSD. Normal CBT focused on today and ignoring the past would not be suitable if the person needs to process trauma. Personally CBT doesn't suit me.

Have you read the articles and information on this site? Looked also at the therapy section of the site? You will get much more quality info here than random people on the web. This site is an excellent source of information about PTSD. What articles have you read on here? Have you read any books on PTSD?

CBT can be very good for trauma.

I say *can* because we are all different and what works for one won’t work for another.

There is no one best trauma therapy that works for all.

It’s all about what works for him.

I’m similar to @Abstract in that CBT isn’t my cup of tea. I’ve found other therapies that have helped me more.

Well said for those of us who need a therapist whose specialty is trauma therapy. I would not wish the challenges of Complex ptsd on anyone. Thank God for this website and forum.
