I'm too close to the legal system to have any faith that it will do anything other than cock up. However, I also plan to sue him in the civil courts for the intentional torts of assault and intimation. And at the least it will cost him a fortune in legal fees!

As expected the system cocked up. He got off everything, the protection order was withdrawn and he gets his firearms back.

Surprisingly I am ok with it because I always knew it was the likely outcome. He spent a fortune on a very famous barrister who made out I was crazy and misunderstood him and then when he moved on, "fabricated" events. My diary (which was provided to the prosecutor) was never put into evidence and none of my friends or doctors or therapists were called. No wonder the court found "reasonable doubt" when they had so little of the story.

Time to draw a line under it and move on.

Damn. I am so sorry that justice wasn’t served and the story wasn’t heard in full. He should have been locked up! I hope the whole thing at least scared the crap out of him. But I know that’s not much consolation.

One perp in my life was caught in my apartment actively threatening me with a weapon and ended up getting disorderly conduct because “we can’t prove it beyond reasonable doubt.” Wtf.
