Magnesium is too complicated for me to even begin to touch.

chamomile tea?
The only things I knew of offhand to contraindicate chamomile was Asthma (triggers bronchospasm, especially at night) & blood thinners/anticoagulants.

So I looked it up. There are 90 interactions listed on Drugs.com, all fairly minor but still noteworthy , and then PenState also strongly recommends against for people who are taking blood pressure medication, diabetes medication, or medications metabolized in the liver (including birth control pills), & to be cautious with people with any kind of smooth muscle issue, low BP, or is hypoglycemic. The interactions and reactions also change depending on whether it’s German or Roman, as there are different compounds in each.

ETA...Ha! Cross posted with you Fadelicious! :D

Thanks @Friday and thanks all for replying.

I've been searching online and came up with a few of those below:
  1. Melatonin
  2. Valerian Root
  3. Lavender
  4. Passion Flower
  5. Glycine
  6. Tryptophan
  7. Ginkgo biloba
  8. L-Theanine
Any views on the above will be appreciated. Thanks in advance ?

My biggest view is to work with a professional. Someone with advanced degrees, years of focused study instead of offhand knowledge from related fields, who can look at your individual physiology/needs and make recommendations that are appropriate to you as an individual.

Like, if I’m remembering correctly, your thyroid is jacked up & you’re on medication for that? And then there are the half lives of the psych meds in your system now (some stay in the body for upwards of 6mo), plus anything you’re likely to be rx’d or given in an emergency, plus a whole helluva lot of things Laymen (like me) -or google- wouldn’t even think to ask, and a pro (like Fade) wouldn’t ask because medical advice is dangerous without a complete picture. The whole, kicking information is kosher, but this is the Internet. It’s like sitting outside a cafe with mates. Even if your mates are docs, dieticians, and pharmacists... they’ll chat about generalities & share info over coffee, but for treatment, let’s book an hour to do it right. You really need to work with someone 1:1.

@Friday - thanks.

Yes, I am on thyroxine for the rest of my life and I had a blood test 2 weeks ago confirming it's controlled and in normal range.

I'm just tired of doctors trying medication each time. This time I really want to get out of this. My PHQ9 was 12. So I'm not severely depressed or anything. Going back to venlafaxine is not fun because coming off it was hell. Took me a year to get off it.

Now I'm on no medication except thyroxine. I don't mind supplements but as far as medication goes, I'm totally over it unless I'm dying.

Can you get tested to see if you have the gene that makes it difficult for you to use folate? Supposedly if you have this gene, then you could have depression issues, and the chances of an antidepressant working could be greatly reduced.

@EveHarrington I encourage all women to get tested and look forward to the day that it is considered the norm, not the exception. While I was posting my husband got a hair up his ass so I just hit post, sorry if that led to any confusion. I should have deleted the "but. "

The MFTHR gene defect has a whole host of mental and physical symptoms. This is one of those times where a natural remedy is the only option. So good thinking Eve.

Is that weird? I totally do that

For medical advice - yep that's so weird Friday :hilarious: I can see you throwing them on the pavement if they give the wrong advice... lol

I don't mind supplements but as far as medication goes,

But... at the risk of causing hysteria with natural remedy ppl... they are still meds... just not regulated meds...

my husband got a hair up his ass so I just hit post,

Well... that's a medical emergency lol.. No wonder you hit post!! ....argh... lol.. yeah I know, no hair, no ass... Where did you acquire that saying from??
