Wellbutrin SR vs XL

I think the XL might address some of what you’re dealing with. Be prepared - you might feel it release about 6 hours after you take it (that was partly why I went with SR). Try and give it a full 14 days to level off in your system, if you can, before deciding.

Joey did the XL make you feel weird? I mean it’s like a drugged/dissociated feeling. I don’t know if it’s the new meds or what’s going on. ?

I mean it’s like a drugged/dissociated feeling.
Yes, approximately 6 hours after taking it - I’d get a very strange, druggy sort of zoomy feeling that was quite uncomfortable. It took me a long time to figure out that it was the Wellbutrin. It always passed in an hour or so. I still get it, even with the SR, when I’m off on my dose timing - it’ll hit maybe an hour after taking it, but it’s gone within maybe 15 minutes. When my dosing is timed right, it doesn’t happen.

Thanks for all your help @joeylittle

My hearing issues are getting worse. I did some research and found out that Wellbutrin is a drug that can cause one to become ototoxic, or in other words, it can cause permanent ear damage.

This is not something I’m willing to risk given that having permanent ultra sensitive hearing would feed into my existing sensitivity issues and greatly diminish my quality of life.

As it is, the clang of dishes is very painful to hear. My ears physically hurt all the time.

There’s always a possibility that this side effect will go away if I stay on the med, but I just can’t risk it.

I’ve already started destabilizing due to the 3 days between stopping the SR and starting the XL, and I’m trying to do everything I can to not spiral down further.

Thanks again for your help.

I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you - but it’s very understandable that the side effect/it’s potential long term issues were not worth it.

Thanks!

I really wish it worked.

My ears are still sensitive and ringing, so starting something new is on hold.

The other meds I’ve tried haven’t had serious side effects for me......just sedation which wore off over time. I guess I was due for a bad one, lol.
