Peer leaders are needed for this study! Unlike study participants, peer leaders need only be male-identifying and a survivor of sexual abuse.

If you're interested, please let me know and I will put you directly in touch with the study leaders.

I'm not trying to be adversarial but I don't understand cis and cisgender. And you say male-identifying...does that mean if you are female at birth but now identify as a male you can be in the study? I'm just a bit confused as to whether or not this is for males or as well people who identify as male.

Not adversarial @Rumors - good questions. "Cis" means someone who identifies as the gender they were born as. I was born male, and I consider myself male, therefore I am a cis man. On the other hand, if you were born female but now consider yourself male, you would be a trans man.

In that example, both you and I would be male-identifying since we both consider ourselves to be men.

hmmm.... As a transman I feel like I should do this as we are so under-represented in most things. I just don't know if I have the time.

As a clarification, I sort of see why the flyer was worded the way it was. As a general rule, trans-men prefer to be called "men". And if you are trying to explain what gender you are referring to in the trans-world and it is getting murky like it did here (it happens) "assiged Female at birth AFAB" or "assigned male at birth AMAB" works

I’ve never heard the term cis or cisgender, but I guess if it applied to me I’d know.

Actually the opposite. Heh. It's one of those rare cases where if you've never needed a label you don't know what they are. If you're a transman like me, you know them all

@Rumors Or another way to think of it, is if you live and accept the gender you were assigned at birth, you are cis. And the only way I reframed it that way is there are a whole lot of gender non-conforming people out there who aren't transmen or transwomen

I believe that the study has lots of subjects - but certainly we could always use more, so posting to any appropriate facebook groups would be very appreciated!

Right now we don't have enough peer leaders - people who lead the online groups. Anyone who wants to do this would be heavily trained and should be available a couple of evenings a week for 6 weeks in a row. From what I understand, we're only recruiting peer leaders from vetted places like this one.
