News Worldwide impact of the novel coronavirus (covid-19)

We just had an emergency proclamation.

Confirmed cases state-wide: 0.

Because the fella in California who died today was on a cruise ship that had docked in Hawaii.

He was elderly and immunocompromised.

In Germany, they’ve stopped and evacuated a train after a “corona suspicion” - some cold symptoms. Which later turned out to be false alarm (who’s surprised?). They put the entire station under lockdown. They even had federal police show up.

Plenty of those kind of stories all over Europe.

What the friggin heck.

Locally Corona
28 cases (per total) and 9 deaths
39 cases :10 deaths 1 day later (which is better, 1:4 instead of 1:3)

Locally Flu
1800 cases per week avg
21 deaths in January
30 deaths in Dec

With 51 deaths, the Flu is wildly in the lead. As it usually is. 50,000 deaths per year means roughly 1,000 per state. More, really, since North Dakota and other less populous states skew results. Although it’s hitting oddly, this year. 1 5yo. 1 17yo. The rest under 50 & over 50. Usually its more evenly split between over 50 and under 18. So kids are hanging tough this season. But adults are being hit fairly hard.

But with 1:3 mortality rate, via corona? Vs a roughly 1:200 mortality rate <low whistle> Yep. If corona ever rose to flu-rates this would be a plague, indeed. Apocalyptic? Hardly. 1917 Spanish flu? Very much so.

Still boggles my mind how much pressure healthcare is under. 1800 people per week terrified they’ve got virus C instead of virus A? Cha.

The toilet paper panic here is mystifying. There's no gastro component to this virus that I'm aware of.

Went to the supermarket today for some parsley? It was scary and a good lesson in the psychology of mobs and panic.

Most of the shelves were bare, the staff were restocking as fast as they could, the check out ladies and men were frazzled and it took me 40 minutes to get in & out again. Usually I could expect to be there no more than 3 minutes.

It's now officially faster to grow my own Parsley. Shall plant it tomorrow. lol..

One home delivery customer here ordered a whole pallet of toilet roll. Not even kidding. We don’t have any cases as yet. And yeah, why toilet roll?

A colleague said to me ‘but we have a vaccine for flu’. Yes we do, which most people don’t get.
Toilet paper is a regular part of panic buying - along with bread . Just like before shops close for the ONE day they close for public holidays. People who exist carb free suddenly think they might need sliced bread. In uk certainly milk too. People who use about a pint a day in tea/ coffee suddenly need five pints a day. The idea of course, is that if quarantined we won’t be able to get out for such things .

At least toilet paper is non perishable. People stockpiling it will simply not have to buy it for some time. It’s selfish but - I think I prefer that kind of selfishness than many others in daily life.

Okay so... 2nd round of flu, seasonal hay fever/cold/allergies... we decided to add a Vit C/zinc supplement in, get a couple Pedialyte's to have on hand... I have bleach wipes anyways, stock a couple gallons of bleach. Have a back up battery for the thermometer and the pulse oximeter... and have a regular amount of cold/flu over the counter stuff on hand for 3 people this season.

Everybody is back on regular daily vitamins for the duration. No shortages here in Lex though there are some limits for consumers on some items. Like Max 5 gallons of bleach.

Mostly ops normal for the season.

The silver stuff is colloidal silver - I've used it before a long time ago when I fried my adrenals and had no immune system. Wouldn't advise it for someone not familiar with it's use.

Vitamin C and multi-vitamin here with you. I still have bleach, plenty of batteries from Sam's and wipes!

Great minds think alike! Lol!

This article has a wealth of information in it. Scientists were close to curing the virus back in 2006 but ran out of money.
