We are going into lockdown in the US, or at least that's what it looks like. Everything is closing and being cancelled. Universities are closing, extending breaks, ending semesters. Primary schools are closing without scheduling dates to re open. Travel to Europe is cancelled for 30 days. I'm not afraid of getting sick. It's off the rails though, and economically everyone's gonna feel it. It's been off the rails before, but I haven't seen anything like this since the seventies here.

Things were really messed up back then, and it's hard to remember. Plus we were young.

But it was, so ok, here we go. I've been alive during big declared wars. I remember the draft. I was waiting for it (a giant interruption in everything) in a way I was thinking about that this morning. There is always a bright side. Some people will make money as fast as the virus spreads and, now you'll see some real change. Some people will be spectacular in being good and others in doing evil.

Remember too please, everyones seen way to many end of the world movies.

But it's happening or it has happened. Gotta deal with it. Good luck everyone. I hope it's a happy ending. Don't panic, not because it's not justified, just because it won't help.

All my local attractions are closing. Disney is closing first and then Seaworld. I believe Universal was in that group. Was on the radio and they mainly focused on Disney cause this only like 3 times it has ever closed.

They said until April 1st then they will revisit it. So those wanting to take a vacay to Orlando attractions, don't. Not sure why anyone would anyway but I know vacations are many times booked way in advance. Hopefully they are refunding people as a vacation to Disney can be thousands (depending on where you stay, how many are in your group, and what you purchase).

Just got off phone to my mum back home. Worried for her and others. She is more concerned about the activities that she helps run for old people in care homes being stopped and the impact on their lives without socialization. When did she get so understanding of mental health issues?
Following the trend her shops are out of toilet paper and other supplies.

Everyone is going nuts here in Alberta. It's such a joke.
Oh God! You can't fly to the US from Mainland Europe! Quick fellow Canadians, start freaking the f*ck out! Run into crowded areas and fight over more f*cking Toilet Paper! Don't bother with food kids! Get that f*cking 3ply pillow soft! That's what we really need!
Hurr durr.

Just walked into a Safeway that's been open for about 20 minutes. First thing I see is some moron with a guilty look on his face, pushing a trolley full of... you guessed it. Toilet paper.
Pathetic.

And no, I didn't buy any toilet paper. I bought food, ya know. That stuff people need if the shops all close.
God help these people if things really go to shit.

Sorry for the bitterness, I'm just sick of seeing stupid.

My wife signed our toddler up for a gymnastics class and a singing class but is strongly considering just not going (and of course in both cases the $$$ is nonrefundable). For both classes, the total number of all people involved is under 25, and kids seem to be at less risk, so I'm ok with her continuing to attend. But my wife stopped listening to my opinions about covid several days ago. What do you all think? Is self-isolation still best at this point?

@somerandomguy Realistically, yeah probably best to avoid people, especially since other peoples kids are usually adorable little germ factories. Swimming pool might be alright though, (and I swear to God I'm not trying to start shit) the heavy chlorination in a pool might make it safer to risk. @The Albatross knows alot more than I do about that. I don't think it's possible to avoid all risk though.

Advice here is self isolation if you have been in contact with someone ill. Some drs have signs up saying if you show symptoms go straight to such and such hospital. Life does go on though and we can’t all hide inside houses forever, it’s question of context.
