I tested negative! so, just mild bronchitis and a sinus infection. Woo hoo? Since I'm no longer isolated I went to the store. We had snow here and I imagine that added to it, but holy moly. So man shelves were empty. Veggies, TP, chicken, dairy, and on and on. It was ridiculous.

To be fair we’ve already had that (bath salts ?) . . . and clowns at one point. . . and about a hundred other viruses over the years. All supposedly worse than the last.

What does it say about me that I'm more afraid of clowns than zombies ???

I'm back to work. While technically, we aren't an essential service at the veterinary clinic, animals need medical care regardless of what's going on with humans. And, since so many people are home from work they are using it as an opportunity to get there pets seen for basic things like vaccines and wellness exams.

On that note, dogs do not get Covid-19. That's been confirmed now. Your pets are safe.

- not just the idiots who want to brawl over t/paper.

I'm used to this. Anyone that has seen hurricane panic has seen that. When hirricane Irma was coming, someone jumped clear over my service dog to get in front of me to get the last loaf of bread. People are insane during a panic like that.

Called to refill Xanax and they wont fill it until the 19th, when I last got it. Not sure what this stocking up on meds thing is about. They won't let you if the doctor hasn't prescribed it as such and esp controled ones.

People in my area are going crazy panic buying. The stores need to limit what people can buy. I'm genuinely worried about food now. I have about enough for a week or two (if I used up everything I already have) but then what? Are the stores even going to do home deliveries? :(

Are the stores even going to do home deliveries?
I read today that Tesco are, though they expect to fill slots quicker than usual. So advise booking in advance. And I think it said certain items would have a limit on them.

Visited supermarket just now, busy, though that's normal for saturday afternoon. Meat isle was virtually emptied but didn't notice too many shortages otherwise. Pharmacy shelves were a bit empty too.

I just got landed with the job of spending tonight and Sunday, researching the legal side of what we can do at work.

Questions like, what if a colleague comes down with it? What do we do? Keep working? Or all go home for a fortnight?

What if a close contact / housemate of a colleague gets it.

Do we use our holiday allowances? take un paid leave? or, is there a handout for that?

Meanwhile the finance director is assessing the effects of the lost sales with European trade fairs being cancelled.

The company has managed to get stands at a trade fair in America that they wouldn't normally attend, but we don't know how long it will be possible to fly from Britain. Flights from continental Europe to America are already stopped, and estimates are that Britain is only about 4 weeks behind Italy in the spread of the virus. Unfortunately decisions about such things are in the hands of the stinking politicians.

I'm not party to the contingency plans, but it appears likely that there's already a ranking order for redundancies.

A few hints have been dropped, suggesting that one or two people who think they are fire proof, might find themselves surprisingly high up on a list.

Having worked in grocery stores, when they put limits on fast moving highly desired items, it's not uncommon for people to come in as a group, but have each person buy the limit as separate transactions. I've even seen people do this in a revolving door fashion. Meaning they literally take the purchased items out to their vehicle, come right back in and do it again and again. This effectively foils the cash tills with hard coded sale item transaction limits.
Despite being super obvious to staff, they usually get away with it by screaming and shouting at anyone trying to enforce the limits. As let's face it, there's only so long a person making not much better than minimum wage can be hollered at before the hassle outweighs the paycheque.
It gets bad enough during a big sale, during a panic buy? Oh hell no. Poor cashier just ends up a very long queue of people yelling "Hurry the f*ck up! Just give it to them, so I can f*cking go already!"

It's nice that they want to try to have a set limit, but very unlikely to actually be enforced. It's much easier to deal with angry people when told "Sorry, we don't have anymore of X." Than when you tell them "Sorry, you can't have anymore of X."
