On a happier note - both safeway and albertsons (chains in the US) in my town are now offering two hour blocks of shopping time for the elderly and disabled! yay!

From @Deanna's link, above:
LFS, you have maybe four cups of bleach - lets err on the side of caution and say 3 cups. From that, you could make 9 gallons of disinfectant. I'd say you're completely set for bleach for quite a bit. Especially since you also have soap.
I'm done reading the news. (Well, that is, until I'm not.) Sh*t is just way too real here. And now this:

Just before we were told not to use playgrounds, I took my kids there and another parent was using a mask ... to cover her mouth. Her nose was entirely uncovered. :facepalm:Guys on motorbikes still wearing flip flops and no helmet. But now have masks for coronvirus on.
All good then :roflmao:
Speaking of accurate info...re: the hand-sanitizer hoarder
source: NYT
Soap. Soap and water. Soap on a rag.
Bleach. Diluted bleach. Dunno about the rest of the US mainlanders here, but I've had no problem obtaining bleach.
I think I'm finding this extra-frustrating b/c, like @jaccat - I never got onto the hand sanitizer habit, it always struck me as a sales-based idea. Sorry if that sounds judgy.
ETA: I went to the NY Times b/c it was the first source for the story...but quoted the relevant bits, because of the paywall.
No I don't mind what he did I doubt he had malice, as in "people will be dying without this and I'll be rich". Shows that initiative doesn't always pay.Interesting, about the bleach. I've seen it as the only thing left on stripped-bare shelves at a few markets in my area. But yes to the soap!

If you need something to keep your mind busy, consider meal planning. You had a very successful shopping trip, and there's no reason it shouldn't last a good long while, even
I think he's selfish the way ANY person who makes their living doing resale is selfish - I honestly believe this has been (appropriately) very eye-opening for the guy. I think his major crime is stupidity and ignorance, with some willful denial.
I'm not defending his actions, more just observing his cluelessness. If I'm reading it right, he's been breaking the law for a while (on the regular), without knowing that it was illegal in his state to buy large quantities and resell at a markup. Good but hard lesson for him: if it seems like it should be against the law...it probably is.
I heard a doctor explain of this and another Drug (pLanquinil?). He didn't say what you did but He said they both look really good and helpful and you can ask your Dr about it if you are sick. They said "don't run out and buy it, don't go out and panic buy it".So, word "on the street" is that Chloroquine is a %100 effective cure.
I strongly suggest not using bleach or any bleach solutions for hands or skin. Bleach harms skin. Only use for surfaces. I would not carry it around, it could spill and well...bleach things. If anything, carry soap.Thank you! Will do and use it in place of Lysol! Had no idea you could use bleach and also didn't know it would take so little bleach!
I guess my worry is when I go out into the world. I guess I can put it in the small squirt bottle when the hand sanitizer that I have is gone?

I was the "pool man" for 10 years I practically bleached myself out. of existence . The little packs of "shock" are a different chlorine and it makes bleach look like soda. I've been "gassed" with chlorine in pool sheds. Pool water is sparkling when it contains no microbial organic life or by products (dead ones)I strongly suggest not using bleach or any bleach solutions for hands or skin. Bleach harms skin.
