Vomiting all the time

Hi everyone!
Ever since I finally got away and am finally safe I have these random episodes of vomiting. The vomiting reminds me of when I used to be gagged and choked, but I haven’t noticed any specific triggers that start the vomiting. Does anyone else vomit all the time? I don’t feel sick, but it just happens all the time. :( It only started after I got away from the abusers, I never had this before. Do others experience this? Is this normal? Do you think this is PTSD related?
Thank you in advance for your time everyone!

When I first started going through my trauma with a therapist I was vomiting or dry heaving a lot. It was so frustrating and upsetting, sorry you are going through this.

I'm better today than I was 2 or 3 years ago. I haven't actually vomited in a while but still get that feeling just less frequent now.

I have an antinausea med for migraines called Promethazine. I will use it when needed.

Hope you feel better.

Voiding is part of the anxiety/adrenaline response. Can be puking, pissing yourself, shitting yourself, some combo of the above, or all 3. There’s rarely any warning it’s going to happen, although you might feel nauseous or have the urge to use the bathroom, but it often just happens. Fine one moment, and voiding the next!

So... could it be PTSD related? For sure. Easily.

It could also be a whole lot of other things,

Medication side effect, pregnancy, silent migraine, inner ear infection, sinus infection, gallbladder issues (stones, infection, injury), sudden intense pain (you’d usually know if this is happening, because ya know, pain ;)... but if you have nerve damage, certain kinds of cancer, or “referred pain”? You might not actually be feeling any pain at all, or only very mild pain in a wildly different area, but your body would still be reacting/responding as if you’re in pain, because you are.)

So whilst it could easily just be anxiety puking?

1. They have meds for that (personally, I take zofran/ ondansetron, but I’ve also used compazine transdermal patches behind my ear), and those meds are Rx only.

2. Anything “new” or chronic? Is worth seeing your doctor about. (Chronic meaning for example, I get panic attacks, but I still have a cardiologist check my heart every couple years, just to make sure I’m not mistaking a heart attack or for a panic attack... even though the other way round -people mistaking a panic attack for a heart attack- is more common.)

Thank you everyone for your supportive comments. I really appreciate your time and thoughtful replies. I think I will contact my doctor. You all are right, it might also be a medical issue!

Has anyone done telehealth sessions with a PCP? I am nervous about it! What has it been like for you if you have?

thanks again. You all are so helpful. ☺️

I had vomiting every day or three for a few years there. I did not realize at the time that it could have been PTSD related. I went to my PCP and was prescribed a stomach med which am still taking. I no longer vomit, so I feel good. Yes, see your Dr or do the telehealth thing. Good luck!

You might check out this thread - similar issue.

So this is my thread, I vomit too. My therapist tells me it's just another way to release stress. You can compare it with crying, it's also a way to get rid of things. I'm not taking any medication for it, because I'm just at home and don't have anywhere to go. But when I do have to go somewhere I will almost definitely vomit. Breathing exercises might help when you feel you're getting nauseous. I've downloaded some app called 'Breathe', I think it's a really helpful app. But it takes some time to learn how to use the breathing techniques. But they're guided mindfullness/meditations of a few minutes each, so it will be easier than trying it on your own.

Anyway, you said you don't have a trigger or something or haven't found it yet. So it also happens when you're just sitting and watching a movie and out of the sudden you start vomiting or is there some kind of alarm signal you get in advance?

I too still don't know how to handle the vomit situation, so any help or tips would be great for me as well.

One of my triggers is just going outside, because I don't want to vomit in public. This (thank god) never happened, but I'm reaaally scared it will. So I'm also triggering the vomit myself sometimes, by thinking 'omg I'm in public do not panic' and of course there will be panic. Don't know if you experience this the same way maybe?

I hope this helps you in some sort of way.

Stay strong, it's a rough time but you will get there eventually <3
