Narrative here is shifting from "vaccine in 18months" to "living with the virus"
People are getting restless- don't blame them. our area of about 1.5 million has only seen a 2 or 3 known cases increase for 5 days in a row now.
I think people have lost sight about why we're physically distancing and staying home.
I see a lot of crap about how this is not more deadly than the flu and the death rate is only like 1 or 2%
A month in and people have already forgotten that this isn't about a death rate.
This is about spread- how fast this little mofo spreads means hospitals become overwhelmed means people have to choose who gets treatment and who doesnt, means someone will have to pick who lives and dies.
Not sure anyone is really prepared to hear or say "We can't treat your 65yr old parent because we think this 25yr old woman/man has a better chance of survival. No, you can't say goodbye because you're not allowed into the hospital"
And for the people who are restless or think it's a hoax- just look at new york (or italy or spain) to get a great visualization of where we'd all be if we hadn't gone on "lock down" and then think to yourself- "how confident am I that I or my mother/daughter/father/brother/sister/son wouldn't need ICU treatment if they caught this? How prepared am I to hear there are no ventilators and no viable treatment plans available for them when they do?"
and then, stop being a selfish asshole, shut up, and stay the f*ck at home!
(if it isn't necessary to go out ?)
