I was ready to throw in the towel until I found everyone here. This forum and the wonderful people here gave me the tools and strength I needed to live and love in a ptsd relationship.

There is so much to learn here. Read around the forums, the articles and feel free to ask questions. We're all here to help and support. How long have you been married?

We've been married for a little over 7 years and together for 11. We raised three special needs adopted children (now grown and out of the home) and the abuse from the children was originally determined to be the root of the diagnosis. Recently found out through therapy that the PTSD actually stems from abuse during her childhood and the children are triggers. Either way, it's complicated, as I'm sure all are, but we're just now scratching the surface. So much we don't know.

I can relate to worrying about our relationship being strained. I've started feeling like I'm on eggshells and not sure what to say or do to be supportive. I'm awkward enough in relationships, so I'll be leaning hard on everyone here for advice and support.

I feel like I'm stumbling in the dark most of the time. Looking for ways to be more aware, empathetic and educated so I can be a better partner.
Just you saying that shows you are an aware, empathetic and educated partner.

I'm sorry that your wife (and you) are going through this. She will need your support (which sounds like she has in bucket loads). It's brave of her to acknowledge what happened to her. And I hope her journey through healing goes well.

Welcome!

Thank you so much. Your words help more than you know.
