Is T too busy?

I have been doing CBT for 3.5 years, and of course, this year has presented various challenges-for all of us- due to the pandemic. To that end, in the one session I have had with my T since the start of 2021, he explained how busy his practice is as a result of the challenges presented by the pandemic.

I have reached out several times in attempts to secure an appointment (virtual) with him, but he doesn't even reply. The practice has the clinicians schedule their own appointments via texts, so I'm hesitant to keep asking. I feel like this is putting me 10 steps backwards. I'm feeling frustrated and paranoid.

Suggestions???

Too busy is one possibility.

Given the pandemic there are several other possibilities... Since he’s in a practice with others? I would contact the clinic and make sure he’s actually still working, since you’ve been unable to reach him.

Nope. He is in the office. Just not returning my texts. I called. Ugh. What now?

Do you have his email address?

If not write a short letter asking him directly (and cc the clinic manager) if he is having tech problems with his phone or he doesn't want to respond to your texts requesting an appointment. If it's the former then request he call you asap. If it's the latter move on.

Drop it off or mail it. Wait a week or so for response. If no response move on to another T who will make an appointment.

What pattern of sessions did you have with him before the pandemic? We’re you seeing him regularly? And was he responsive then?
