Funny TV shows? Uplifting things to watch whilst in a spiral or dealing with insomnia.

I'm in a huge mental spiral which means I did some time not being able to get up... also those times come with insomnia so... I need good uplifting things to watch.
Or distracting stuff that take me to another world.

Somehow all I stumble upon makes me even more depressed. (like this new TV show that was about a friend of a family kidnapping and basically even before that grooming one of the girls). Or about struggling with illnesses, or getting messed up in drugs and mafia. I don't know, sometimes finding hard movies you can relate to can be good, so you feel less alone.

Right now it just feels like it's bringing me down.

not sure of your taste, as this show is corny to some im sure. but as somebody who hates having to watch anything remotely violent in a show, i’ve come to love Gilmore Girls, lmao. it’s just wholesome and i feel like im just stepping into their little cookie cutter world of Stars Hollow, plus it’s got some very pretty fall vibes lol so the aesthetic of it all comforts me too. if that’s not your speed i always recommend a good sitcom, something with characters you could see yourself being friends with or relate to in some positive way. that 70s show and 30 rock are a couple of my favorites. hope this helps and i wish you the best on your healing journey.

I love Gilmore Girls, haha. I also like more wholesome TV content. I recently binged Being Erica && that was super nice, and very Jewish, which I appreciated. I'm also liking 9-1-1 Lone Star. Foundation has some great actors in it (but is a bit more heavy). I love soaps like Drop Dead Diva, Dead Like Me, Army Wives, you know. Junk food TV for your brain, lolz. One time I was talking to one of my vet friends and he said FRG and I was like oh, family readiness group, and he was like how do you know that? And I had to be like.... no reason... I totally don't binge terrible soap operas on TLC... SHUT UP...

a good go to for me is Modern Family. Beware, nothing is off limits and just about every known stereo type or weakness or racial prejudice or political boundary is exploited, in fast forward mode. I use it as a “commercial fill” second channel a lot, i will be watching one show with Modern Family on the previous channel so i just hit the go back button during the commercials on the show i am watching and catch two or three minutes of it as a filler. I generally get a laugh during those few minutes. Opiate for the masses.

"Ew, David!"

Finished The Orville: New Horizons. Excellent show! Manages a lovely balance of light-hearted and genuine drama with compelling characters and a nice homage to the sci-fi genre. I'm also watching Somebody Feed Phil. I love Phil, he's so wholesome, hah.
I love the Orville. Just finished most of the Star Trek stuff on Paramount +, started the cartoon Lower Decks today. I haven't heard of Somebody Feed Phil. Season 5 of The Crown is out tomorrow so I'll be starting that.
