Hi. I am struggling hard with my recently diagnosed CPTSD. Any other guys especially out there around my age to discuss this with? And some of our issues that are a direct result of our CPTSD? I do self-harming things often when I am feeling no worth - which is often. Hoping for a friend or 2 to talk me down when I am spiraling and about to make unhealthy life choices. Many thanks in advance and I hope everyone here finds true peace. Jay.

Welcome @FunLife23 I am a civilian, never fired a shot in anger or had to take cover, but i was a first responder and a fire fighter. I have left a safe place to go into a deadly one to help others. I get that much.

Doesnt matter how we got on this bus, we are all on the same bus and taking similar rides.

male, 61, on here a fair amount and glad you are reaching out, there is a lot of help in these forums

Hey man. I'm about half your age (31, heh) but with a 1,000 year handicap. Give or take 😝 As I often hear the refrain, we're glad you've found us; less so for the circumstances preceding your arrival. Usually I'm about if you ever need a chat.

Welcome to the forum! Thank you for your service!☮️
I appreciate your supporr. Many thanks

Welcome! I’m not a guy, and a bit younger, but I’m sure you can find support here. People tend to come and go over time, so keep posting as not everyone is here every day.
Thanks for that! I realize seeing your reply and others i might have come across as exclusive - for which i apologize. I added my age and veteran status as background, but in no way mean to make anyone feel less than. Hoping that isn't the case. Each of the supportive replies feels like a thread of hope helping to keep me not just around - but also fleeting glimpses of hope. Always welcome!

Welcome @FunLife23 !

The best thing I found here was learning to deal with the everyday....
Thank you for that! When i am lucky enough to regain just a bit of groundedness I remind myself there is only the present moment... current day. Good reminder. Hard day already. Grrr.

Thank you. I'm hoping and trusting blindly this is somehow tied into my survival and perhaps healing.

Thank you SO much for the welcome words. I'll look for you.

Thank you SO much for helping people at their worst moments. Brave, friend. Thankfully I realized long ago that no two people respond/react/are triggered by the same event. So I try to give folks lots of space and try not to judge. Thanks for saying hi and hope the day is good to you.

Thanks friend. read it, re-read it, shared it with my wife. You are greatly appreciated.

welcome from a fellow veteran, funlife. i carried my ptsd into the army with me, but i started my psychotherapy in earnest through base infirmaries and carried that psychotherapy directly to the va when i was discharged in 1976. the bureaucratic process can be tedious but i received some top shelf therapy through the va.

support groups, such as this one and the real time counterparts have also helped considerable. those friends/supporters to talk me down when i am spiraling make a huge diff in my own symptom management.

i hope this forum serves you as well as it has served me. welcome aboard.
speaking of service. . . insert veteran gratitude platitude here.
