I just need to vent.

This support group is great, but I'm also in other support groups. I posted about what I went through in one support group and one person just wrote in comments that my profile is screaming that I'm just a man looking to talk to women and that every post I post is different and I should be reported. Yeah, obviously every post is different because I don't repeat myself and I share my story part by part. I'm so f*cking mad.

That’s horrible. I’m sorry they’re making such wild assumptions/accusations about you. They should be there to support you not assume the worst.

i am a woman who retired from construction in 1995. that was pre-social media. we barely had internet back then, so i never shared the strife in virtual reality (does "virtual" still mean, "almost?"), but this mentality was fairly standard. why else would i be working in male dominated fields if i wasn't looking for a dating service? from '73 to 76, i served a tour of duty in the army. there, it was AssUMed i was either hubby-shopping or a lesbian.

old norms die hard. . . for my coping, i keep the emphasis on, "one person" and pray for their healing. "one person" shared that sick opinion. even when the opinion is being delivered gang-bang style, the opinions still belong to individuals. hope healing happens here.

i then shift my focus to the exceptional people who do not share those opinions.

dunno if any of that fits your case, or not. just sharing. . . for what it's worth, many of the greatest supporters of my non-traditional career were men working in female dominated fields such as nursing, teaching children and clerical work.

As someone who has almost never been easily labeled? Shrug. It’s not something that bothers me, at all, or very often. Sometimes, though? It HITS, and lands hard.
